At first, when I was new to Torn game, as a newbie it was very difficult to cope because I would find myself in the hospital most of the time.
It really was survival of the fittest. With time, I've finally adapted to the crimes and standards of torn.
One of my craziest experiences was when a player kept mugging me and taking my hard earned cash. As a newbie, 1000 tcd means a lot back then and it was really painful as the player kept mugging and mugging me because I had no idea where to keep my cash.
Funny enough, I could beat him now, it's all about commitment and the desire to grow.
I didn't talk much, was able to avoid being hosped. Faction leader got fedded, I was given the faction, got threatened by someone (who I won't name) so I destroyed the faction.
hmm got ~50m in my first ranked war(it is like x5 of my nw at that time), shocked and thought they sent the money wrong and then proceed to find out how profitable RW is and then the vicious cycle of cache farming begin.
Taking my first week or so to make around $238k in money selling crap on item market. All I had and I bet it all on black and it came up red on the roulette table. Didn't come back to the game for something like six months.
Still ain't learned, either. I lost $500k in poker last night, and i only played for 15 minutes.
Weird newbie experiences, I've already shared the weird DM guy one in another place, I'll repost it here if I can find the screenshot back out.
I did get threats of someone claiming to be a multi account with their "Level 99 pretending to be a level 3" as they put it.
There was also the wonderful experience of getting married only to find out the person I was married to was a bit unhinged, he sent me a ballgag in a present with the message "For use between us in the bedroom" or something like that (I sent it back to them, and surprise surprise it was a SED anyway because the dummy annoyed a lot of the faction by throwing hate around). It ended when they got kicked from the faction for stirring up hostilities towards them and went offline for a month or so after I broke it off with them.
There's probably more but I can't remember them atm.
Had a hard time coping with the high figures in the beginning. Found a SE second or third week. Checked what it was worth and thought" ah wth,i can afford 220k".......Missed some zeros there. Totally Worth It! ;-)
when I started I sold losses to this guy and he used me to open ghost trades, at the time thought he was super strong and rich and wanted to be like him today I'm stronger and richer than him despite him being active, it's a funny experience
After about a month of bumming around I joined dead or alive and some kind soul threre sent me a donator pack. I opened it up and saw my E bar jump and was just absolutely shook. Ha.
In 2008 I attacked someone and their friend (or maybe multi?) threatened me. they said there would be hell to pay if I didn't send them a morphine (it was a mug so a FAK would've done but I digress...) The problem was I had never heard of this morphine item and by the time I tracked one down-- they cost 8k?! I only had 4K to my account! So I think the guy extorted me for like 2k or whatever and then we became friends afterwards for some reason. Pre 2010 internet was such an odd place.

Torn was a legitimately rougher place, factions could be easily destroyed, extortion was a case of "pay us or we will chain until you die", medical items weren't as readily available since fewer existed, and the top weapon setup was a minigun, RPG launcher and yasukuni sword... although if you had anything above a chainsaw you were in the big leagues...
The recruitment for the big factions was very daunting, I remember seeing requirements of 300k stats and thinking that was impossible! Renting houses wasn't a thing either, if you had anything above a detached house you were doing well.
I got into a faction, i was loaned some equipment, and tried to do some of the basics. I was pretty excited and at that time was glue to checking the city for items. (For some reason I kept refreshing that city map - which was apparently newish at the time.)
Apparently there were chains that we were supposed to participate in, but the faction leader didnt tell me anything about chaining or how do it. I also had extremely low stats - now that I think about it. Anyway, he kicked a bunch of people randomly, including me. I lost interest in Torn after that, but after looking for a persistent browser based RPG, I re-discovered Torn and came back like two years ago.

Several hours later I recieved an mail inviting me to join a faction. Assuming it was from the same faction of the person I had responded to, I applied.
Anto_Capone quickly scooped me up, gave me some gear, xanax, cash, rental, etc. Then he flooded me with guidance and links to guides/tutorials. This was followed by various other faction members reaching out to me, welcoming me to the family and offering guidance that still continues today.
After a few days in NNGO, I realized that I had not heard anything from the person I'd responded to in chat about joining the faction. So I searched the members list in hopes of finding them and saying a very big thank you for inviting me to such an amazing family.
I couldn't find the person, weird. So I used the search function and found them. I also found their faction, and it was not NNGO. I won't mention who or which faction, but I did find myself up against them in a rank war with NNGO. Ironically we defeated them.

Early in Torn, I met some really great people that took me under their wing and helped me start off right.
One of those players was a female who had attracted the attention of a creepy piece of shit that bullied everyone that associated with her and her friends. He told me I should “be careful” who I associate with. He’d place bounties and hosp us.
He got fedded some time back for “donation issues.”
He restarted , so every now and then, or during chains, I use his shit account as a target.
Craziest? Ditching someone I very care about over SED. I mean it's just SED. That was really idiotic move. Secondly trusting new friend a 150m item while I barely had none. Thank God friend didn't scam me. We are still good friends now.
