Does happiness still affect your gym gain if your stats are over the 400k mark?

Yes! Your happiness can go to a max of 99,999. However, any happiness over your maximum will be reset every quarter hour, so you get 15 minutes maximum to use it

Unless you're reading Ignorance is Bliss book. Which is a godsend for any newbie - 99k happy for an entire month :)
I found it but only after going over happy jump range (400k/800k if in adult novelties) for 3 out of 4 stats. Still, the 4th will get a boost

you are not wrong just clarifying as it could be misinterpreted
its 15 minutes on the hour so... XX:00, XX:15, XX:30, XX:45 (XX = any hour)

Happiness always increases gains, although as the number gets higher you receive diminishing returns. For example, with a PI and 3500 happy, I get 1.078m per training session. using a esctacy to jump for me just allows for 1.2m. Generally not worth wasting what could have been 250 extra energy spent for the double happy.
General rule of thumb, if your stat is under 100m, its worth happy jumping it
