Personally opening mine but I guess it depends how much you need the money
People buy them for market prices if you'd like to sell, yes. If you're a gambler there's a very small chance (under 1 in 200 for sure, probably lower) that you will get an item worth many times the billfold's value by opening it, but most likely you will get low value junk.
