Too early to tell it seems. I know it's a popular theory but I don't think the testing has been conclusively done as of yet.

I've done extensive research on the topic, though with a limited dataset due to how new the crime is (sample size: 4.5k attempts). I can confirm that, indeed, color used has bearing in possible outcomes, with some colors being better in certain locations than others.
Particular examples of note are both pink and purple being significantly more profitable in eastside, and green/white/blue being seemingly more profitable in westside.
I'm still doing more research on the topic to draw more precise conclusions, doesn't help at all that reputation has a significant effect on how much money outcomes can give out, as well as having/not having the paint mask and other key items.

Tq sir
Can you provide some more details?
When you say pink and purple are "more profitable in eastside" do you mean they have more money outcomes and/or higher money outcomes and/or fewer fails?
Also, how much more profitable are these colors? There is likely enough RNG that some colors will appear better in small data sets but not in larger ones. (For example, there is a lot of RNG in DVD sales - well over 10% differences between individual player data sets.)
I ask since I am only interested in gaining Reputation (the money gains in Graffiti are insignificant for me, I just want merits) - so maybe I should avoid pink and purple in eastside.

The answer to this is yes, per Ched's announcement:
I don't know what the 'different outcomes' are, however: whether it's more XP, money, or only some uniques can be obtained with certain colours (though I doubt it).
- Different outcomes can be unlocked with specific paint colors.

Mentions: Crimes 2.0 : Graffiti
Could be unique items
It could be; but from a coding perspective they'd have to check that, and it also should be easy for us to tell if it's taken into account.
A star means a unique item is available, so if the colours mattered, I guess it would show a star available if you have the right colour equipped, and then the star would disappear when you equip a different colour?

Made this with the data I had, since I have the most logs on eastside currently. While there's nothing decisive so far due to the general lack of data on some colors like red or green, it does seem like some colors are favored over others, leaning towards giving more money/items.
There's definitely some outliers here and there, since there's too many factors that affect possible outcomes, there's common finds based on location, color-specific finds, CS-locked finds, reputation-locked finds and item-locked finds. In a nutshell, it's a pain to chart but does lean towards purple currently being the best for eastside, though additional data to say this for certain would always come in handy.

So I see orange best average success in Eastside @Emforus

Yes and no? It may seem that way in the table but the sample size is too small, not to mention all logs I have for orange in eastside are from R2* to R4*, skewing the results further. If I had someone who did only orange in eastside from start to finish the data would be more complete, for now based on data reliability I believe purple is better, but a lot of this could change in time as more data comes in.
EDIT: Ok so I checked how much the difference in income based on reputation level was, turns out it's VERY significant.
Just for black, R2* makes half of what R3* makes, and R3* makes a THIRD what R4* gives.
Might just futher break down the table I posted earlier, adding reputation levels (from 2 to 5 since 0 and 1 give no cash) to show a more realistic comparison.
