If you are using PC. Use the TornTools addon to make it easier. There is an element of RNG. You can put merits into awareness and that boosts the likelihood of finding items. If you can't use TornTools you will need to zoom in and go over the whole map. It is a long and tedious process hence why more people use TornTools since it will highlight any items on the map.

I will also say putting merits into awareness especially early on is a waste for the most part. Put your merits into Education Time Reduction and then bank interest. These will pay off in a big way in the future.

Or download Torn PDA to your phone. Shows you on the nap and even tells you.

I stopped searching daily and last 2 years I don't collect until end of December.

The amount of items that spawn is controlled by awareness. Awareness can be good to put SOME merit levels in. You can also get increased awareness by working in specific companies, there's a book for awareness that you can get from mission shop or subscriber gifts, and there's also Awareness Awareness week where everyones awareness is increased for a week in January. If you have low awareness you won't get a lot, but considering SE's (items that you can sell for ~500M and should only be used by very very high stat players.) spawn in the city its always worth checking once a day with TornTools like others have said.

There are a ton of things not clearly explained in the opening Torn tutorials. One of the things is "city finds."

If you click on the "city" tab, you'll be brought to a menu with links to all the places in the city. At the top, there is a tab that says: "Map" (circled below.) Clicking on that will bring you to a map of the city.

In the city map screen, if you zoom in, you might find items. It'll be a small item in a black circle.

If you click on the item, you will get it.

City finds spawn randomly at midnight, but they only spawn if you had logged into Torn the previous day. City finds will also not go away once they are on your map. So if you've been logging in every day, but not checking the map, it's quite likely that you have a large amount of free items waiting for you!

The items are random, but you can get very high value items! Over the course of 164 days, I have found a total of 76 items - valued at $113,880,188. (I have about 4 merits put into increasing city finds). So on average, I find an item once every 3 days or so, and while there have been a lot of useless items, there has also been a goodie bag, eDVD, feathery hotel coupon, business class ticket, etc.

While there are several icons on the map, (territories are also included and I think if you click on one it asks if you want to fight or something like that) city finds are in a black circle with a white border.

Once you get good at spotting them, and if you have good eyes, you can spot the icon from a pretty zoomed out position. But it's easiest to either zoom in or use Torntools, which is a torn extension for your browser.

Good luck with your finds!

Hello there, I installed torntools 4 days ago, and I had an item waiting for me in the city. Haven't gotten anything, since, Is that normal? Does torntools spots it right away or do i have to move around the map for it to notice them?

Spawns are RNG so you'll hit the occasional dry spell. 4 days is not unusual.

I don't use TornTools, so i'm not sure. I imagine it would read the whole map at once though
