Equality for all - SHARE all scripts

Hello everyone,

This thread is about scripting equality amongst everyone on torn.


There’s plenty of reasons as to why people hate scripters, they can’t make their own scripts and are always at a disadvantage compared to them.

There are people who have legal scripts, which are only shared among certain members of a faction, close friends etc.
This benefits them in EVENTS and lots of other areas compared to non-script users (people who don’t know how to make scripts despite wanting to) making it not a regular competition bur rather a scripting competition!

Majority of us has no clue on coding, yet alone have any idea how API works (mysef included). I want to be equal with majority of scripters, but I just don’t know how despite me wanting to be equal with them. Those who make the scripts share them only with a select few, offering these advantages only to people they want to help!

HEREBY, to add fairness to the game, I PROPOSE that all LEGAL scripts to be published in the Tools&Userscripts section. ANY script that is not listed in the T&U section, will be classified as ILLEGAL.
People who are caught using scripts that are not posted in the forums BUT maintain torn rules, will get banned for 7d to begin with (repetitive offenses increased like multi accounts offences)

Now majority of scripters will say: why should I waste my time to make a script and give it for free for it to become legal?
The answer is simple: so the game is equal to everyone, and if you don’t want it to be equal, don’t make a script at all in the first place (and you won’t have to waste your time)!


QUESTION: Would you like to be able to use scripts that everyone can have public access to, so you can be equal with everyone in this game?

Which is exactly why OP's request is idealistic, but not realistic and can't be enforced. Something that calls the API could *maybe* be tied back to a script, but figuring out if that particular script has been shared publicly or not is an entirely different endeavor. And then finding private scripts that only manipulate the DOM is simply not going to happen.

I entirely understand them being made for QOL improvements, but the access shouldn’t be restricted.


All legal scripts should be publicised.

Put your money or your coding skills to use they are legal so you can buy them

Thing is scripts are making QoL improvements to the game which takes the load off of Ched.

You are able to buy scripts just like anyone else is. The scripts are legal and made by people either for personal use or for sale in whatever currency


You do not deserve that for nothing

Learn or pay

There is no freebies cos you won't put the time effort or cost in that other people do


This is the same mentality that you see in weird factions where they reward RW activity with Xanax and have no payouts

Naw I think this is a bad idea.

There's an entire in game economy around building scripts for people/factions for in game money.

Want scripts that improve your play? Either learn to code; or hire somebody to do it for you like the rest of people.

Or if you're feeling mischievous (Not gonna endorse this) join SMTH - Get access to the scripts, leak them.
