For a 0 days player to a 5000 days player, Torn can always be frustrating, intimidating and mostly stale.
What should I do? How do I make money? How do I have fun like others?

This will be a detailed guide that will be constantly updated over time, so please if you have any recommendations or questions, post below.

First Ill be starting with the basics.
Torn, as we all know, is a crime game, so no wonder why its filled with hardened criminals, faction titans, scholars and erghh , uhmm, CRyPTo.
Doing illegal activities is actually legal in torn, you can mug others, burn down warehouses, shoplift and even assassinate a politician, sometimes you get what you deserve, but mostly you get away with it loaded with cash.

Travelling and importing stuff from abroad is a guaranteed and easy way to make cash consistently but is time consuming and boring.

What about trading?
Well, with the amount of traders out there and the disposable cash they got, I won't even think about it, especially since trade chat is all colorful now and uneasy to look and the forums is flooded with threads, your ad will be a needle in the haystack.

What if I get good deals at the auction house? Won't that get me good money?
It will, but look at it, its all RW (Ranked weapons) which are confusing and hard to sell.
I got an orange spear with really good perks for 700m, kept looking for a customer for months, until I finally sold it for 800m (Could have made more than that from stocks using my 700m)

What about stocks though?
Yeahhh, noo.
Stocks used to be much more volatile and fun, now they move VERY slowly and you can hardly make any profits on them unless you want the benefits which payout once a week or month.
In short, current stocks are only viable for the long run.

Dammit what about creating a company, for sure that can make me loads.
You're correct on that one, until you get wrong again.
Lets take into consideration my favorite company and the easiest and cheapest one to make profits off (up to 40-45m profit per day) which is a PSF (Private security firm), if you have 6-8 bill laying around, and have the time to get employees and convincing them to put 10 merits in EE (Employee effectiveness) in addition to finishing the required education courses and getting the stocks for it. Sound like a hassle, doesn't it? it is.
I had a PSF and was making good money, until I focused a bit more on real life and it started to crumble.
After that I started to get offers for directing PSFs and making them reach decent profits a day for a significant fee.

Well fine, f**k you Stan, you think cuz you're a fossil you know al there is to know? Well, lets hear it big guy, how do I make money?

The problem is that players usually jus focus in making money, its not an economy game, its a crime game, so focus on building connections and making a name for yourself and money will flow eventually.

First of all and most importantly : Factions

Factions:

  • Armory
  • Wars
  • Bank
  • Investments
  • Faction members
  • Mercenary Services

Armory:
Why buy weapons and freeze millions and maybe billions when you can use them to make more money?
Faction usually have their armory open for anyone to lend weapons and armor, sometimes temps, drugs and even boosters.
So keep that cash on you and leach on your faction armory, and yes, they will let you (see next bullet)

Wars:
Why should i spend energy on wars where i can train instead?
Good question, but i have one for you, why do you train? not for wars? not for attacking? See where im going?
Another reason to participate in wars is the amount of cash you could get from it 10s maybe 100s of millions which you can use later on to maximize your training games you gym whores.

But i am in a big faction so i dont have any targets to attack, what should i do?

Most if not all wars require outside hits to keep alive and have a chance to win, factions pay for outside hits as well as assists so you can still make good money and be in a big faction that offers amazing specials.

Bank:
Straight to the point, use the faction bank to store your money so you don't get mugged (of course if you are in a trusted faction)

Investments:

Faction investments as  know it, comes in two ways:
  • Some players offer dividends for your investment with them
  • Some players invest with you, they use your bank and sometimes, if you dont have a certain BB (Benefit Block) they'll send you the cash to buy them for them (They do this cuz every increment costs the double of the previous one) so instead of getting 2 FHCs (Feathery Hotel Coupons) for an investment of 4.7b, you can get them for 3.1b (1st increment is 1.55b, second is 3.1b etc...)

Faction members:
They wont make you money directly, but they could help facilitate your sales by buying what you're selling for 0 mug risk.

DO NOT ADVERTISE SALES ON FACTION CHAT

Mercenary Services:

  • This is accessible for everyone but to excel, you should be a big boi, being able to take out people from HOF factions for good pay.
  • You shouldnt care why people are paying you to attack offliners but if you need to know, it helps them not to lose score by contructing us to attack offline members and hospitalizing them.
  • This wont affect the players as they will be getting early discharge to get out of the hospital and carry on attacking without losing medical cooldowns.

This covers the faction part briefly, satisfied?
Well, i see where you're going, but I'm a weak players, where could i find factions like this?
Most of the times, they find you, as long as you're active, friendly and willing to be big.
Factions harbor new players or weak players and help them build up stat wise and financially as long as their loyalty doesn't end up with the enemies (Although its your choice, and you wont get harassed for it)

"Your reputation and connections are everything in this game, good or bad, wear your skin, own it, and thrive" - Stan

Disclaimer: This is my personal opinion, trading and stocks are not my playstyle, doesn't mean they are not good, but means that i don't prefer them

Do not rely on gambling to build a networth - it may work for some, but ruin the whole game for most!!

After you have done all thats previously mentioned, you're on the road to building your networth, it may seem slow, frustrating and sometimes annoying, but it requires patience, allot of it!

But remebers, exponential growth is the word

Earning 0.25% of your networth daily might seem like nothing, like Stan, ive got 1b and earning 0.25% is nothing, i make more from my job alone, let alone travelling and trading.

Well my little nublet, you're right, for now, so here what i have to say about it

  1. 0.25% is better than 0% thats for sure
  2. At a mere 20b, that daily passive profit would be 50m. (Considering RW proceeds) which is more than enough to satisfy the majority of players.
  3. And again, exponential growth, the more cash you have, the more cash you can make

What are other ways to make money?

Wars, trading, Auctions, travelling, stocks, OCs, events, etc...

Im not gonna go into that in details as there are many threads about this specific subject.

You have to get recognised as an active and friendly player though for this to work, and for me personally, trading has not only still been profitable but also opened a lot of connections. Not that I wasn’t approached before trading, but I met so many high level players willing to give advice as well as help in other ways.

its interesting to hear your view on this matter.

my favorite, and the most ignored fact of making money is focusing on landing a solid 8* SS / AN job or anything else which is viable depending on requirements.

2m+/2days? need to say anything else?

hair saloon, candle store are great all arounders which you cant regret

and music store is perfect for saving cost on trainings, gets you ahead way faster than anything else for practically no money spent (on its own).

i'd explore this aspect a bit maybe, see where we are at but i am highly confident with the new 2.0 systems even jobs will change things quite a bit up, very soon.

I've been trying to make connections outside of the faction, flying for flower sets is getting a bit monotonous. I have bank investments rolling over and I add to it, but I need to make more are there any other worthwhile ways to make big cash fast? This revenue stream is not enough. I have a few stocks WSU and 1st increment sym & Candy 1k happy every 7 days which I'm getting rid of coz there's other things I could use that cash for, I'm looking for big money makers while my long term investments accumulate.

Sometimes it really does get frustrating :)
