· 67 likes · We tried this before, people were constantly suggesting it - and then in reality never actually played it. It was quite buggy, difficult to moderate against cheaters, and better platforms like chess.com exist.

I know that you could just cheat your way up with chess bots, but, just in theory, wouldn’t it be cool to have a system like RR where you join a room with an amount of money with another player and play chess to win the pot?
And there could be live tournaments and sht like that, some ranked ladder, some notorious players that you are afraid to face…
Yeah, anyway, it is impossible to prevent cheating, but if there were just honest people, would you play?
I have not seen another forum post about this topic and I just wanted to see what you think.
Again, it is an impossible task, this post is not a suggestion, it’s just conversation.
If we had chess I think most people would just open another chess tab before the match began where it's you vs computer, then once their opponent made the move in the Torn match, they would copy the moves their opponent would make against the computer and then copy the moves the computer responded with in their own match.
Most people would do that, so in the end it's really just computer vs computer. Only thing I could suggest is have it be a quick time event where you can only ponder on a move for 2 seconds to deter people from having the time to switch tabs and copy the moves, but then it's not really chess then is it lol.
You could never perfectly replicate an ongoing poker game to determine the best play because you don't have all the information (the shuffled deck, your opponent's cards, etc.). A ongoing chess game can be perfectly replicated in an engine and you can receive the perfect move (based on what current engines consider to be the best move).
Yeah wouldn't mind it but he cheating really turned me off. Too many wannabe cool chess kids running around torn. As much as it's a nice thought it just doesn't work in torn.
I reckon it would be cool to expand more on the things to do in other countries. Different types of casinos, unique mission givers in each country, etc.
Let them implement stockfish on highest difficulty and allow players to try to beat it, however, it's not in the spirit of a Casino, because it can't be biased for the "house" easily. There's nothing stopping you/anyone from hosting chess tournaments on lichess.org or something though, with torn-stakes. All it takes is "honest" players. Yeah I know, it's an oxymoron. But anyway, online poker while flying when?
