Why do some factions accuse a losing faction of 'dragging out' a RW?
Is a losing faction just supposed to bow out and let the other side take an easy win?
How long is the losing faction supposed to hold up the winning factions 'inevitable' win?

I am not trying to make a point, I just want to know something about the mentality

Thanks

I am a noob when it comes to RW strats and mechanics . However in my limited knowledge this is what I think .
RW costs the participating faction a lot of resources. In terms of xans , points , meds , revives, mercs etc.
The longer a war drags on , it costs both the sides . Hence most of the factions when they see a favourable match up wants to do some quick long chains and finish asap (again depends on the strategy).

The side having the advantage doesn’t see the logic why their opponents would try hard and delay the inevitable as the resource costs pile up.

Hope the above made some sense. May be the experts can let you know more details on this .

cheers.

Because plenty of factions do, they know they're losing but they will deliberately instruct their faction to make it as difficult as possible on the enemy and either cost them more or just frustrate them.

The phrase "in war, there are no rules" is often attributed to various individuals and is a common sentiment expressed in discussions about warfare. It reflects the idea that during times of armed conflict, traditional rules and moral principles are often disregarded, and brutal and ruthless tactics may be employed. It's important to note that this phrase is a general observation rather than a specific quotation from a single person.

However, it's worth mentioning that various historical figures and military leaders have made similar statements or expressed similar sentiments about the nature of war. For example, Carl von Clausewitz, a Prussian military theorist, famously wrote in his book "On War" that "War is the continuation of politics by other means," emphasizing the often brutal and unrestrained nature of warfare.

Additionally, the concept of "unrestricted warfare" has been discussed in various military and strategic contexts, where the idea is that in certain situations, combatants may feel justified in using any means necessary to achieve their objectives, regardless of traditional rules or norms.

I've only seen factions that was either denied a termed win or a ridiculous deal drag out a RW, as "punishment" for not giving them either an un-warranted win or additional loot from a quick and clean loss.

If it is obvious that one side is going to make a landslide win, I would personally prefer to end it as soon as possible so I can get back to training, re-enlist and try for another day.

There are no rules in love and war, and it is acceptable when talking about mercs, revivers, arranging ed, turtling and other (current) valid RW strategies, doing it to be petty is just... petty.

But to each and their own, so far I haven't matched up with the same opponent again after, so they can stew in their pettiness and annoy someone else for all I care.

Its more about situation when losing faction perfectly knows they are losing. They even gave up, didnt do mercs and no chain running etc. Instead of medding out and making it faster for everyone, they just sit in hosp. Like med cd is separate from all other CDs. You can use like 18 SFAKs in full med cd. If everyone did that you can get like this one where we medded out and war finished in under an hour. Or you can extend war for 6-8 hours for no apparent reason

Like others said, when there is an obvious favorite, or one side is highly unlikely to be able to recover the gap, its just delaying the inevitable, wasting resources and time. Its more profitable for both sides to end it earlier in all situations, but its especially frustrating in these situations.

In their defense, they had 20 more people than us. I'm guessing they went into the war thinking it would be over in a couple hours

When the inevitable outcome of a war becomes clear, it is in the best interest of both sides to negotiate a surrender that will allow everyone to get back to training as soon as possible. Often, the losing side will seek a payment or other concession from the winner as compensation for surrendering.

Delaying the inevitable outcome of a war is a means of extorting compensation for surrendering. (As a reminder, extortion is perfectly legal in Torn.)

There's something to be said about going out swinging.

We lost our last war - we were stupidly outstatted, so despite having better activity we couldn't shut them down.

If we wanted to end the war quickly we could have asked our members to med out so the opposition could run up an easy chain.

BORING.

We decided to run a guerilla war on them, run chains up where we could, send people abroad, team on their big hitters. We lost that war smiling and taught a lot of our newer players how to fight smarter and harder.

I'd make that same choice again.

Sure, I think it becomes quite obvious when people are just dragging things out vs actively fighting against the tide.

In my opinion it's an annoyance tactic done by shitty faction leaders that have nothing better to do.

If you want to be classy, once you've hit your hit margin, just message the other leader and say that you're going to just "med out" for them to finish the war up if they promise to use attack and leaves. You know you're going to lose, so don't delay it, just get it over with and let your faction get back to building. I don't think people realize that wars put a faction on hold, the longer the war goes, the longer people are in limbo because of the war effort.

There's really no reason to drag a war out outside of egos and shit like that. I'd think twice about my membership if I had leaders like that.
Sintera-Terasin [2962405]
That is how I see it, the war isn't just about the score and $ value. Morale and endurance can be a big part of fights with any length. When the leading team becomes fatigued or morally break and the losing side holds the line, that is the 2nd best feeling besides a well earned W in my opinion.
Asemov [2270413]
The amount of wars I see drag on during one factions "active" time, only for the tide to turn during their slower period due to them having a stronger 24 hour activity...

Fact is; not everybody is running Ranked Wars specifically for the caches, some factions run RW's because they enjoy RW's, and are okay with breaking even, or even operating at a loss to attempt to win, and honestly if the members are okay with it, alls fair in love and war.
dunmugmeh [538353]
If you know for sure you cant win. Just end it as fast as possible. That is the smart way to end a unwinnable war. Its no good dragging it out for days when you can get the same amount of loot in hours.
Zanz [2830805]
This is something completely different than simply pouting and refusing to let it go, you guys went for it, made chains and actively fought. What I was referring to are those who simply fly away/sit in hospital without hitting back or even trying just to drag it out and maybe... hope for a deal?
