**Disclosure**
This is simply a collection of advice I've been giving to more than 100 BRAND NEW players I've met in the game through new faction recruitment, bails, etc recently. I wanted to collate it to save me repeating myself. This isn't in anyway meant to compete with the Baldr's guide or anything else. This is simply a dumbed down version for BRAND BRAND NEW PLAYERS that I come into contact with. So please don't hate!

Money Making
As a brand new player, my current best advice is to buy bottles of beer from the city and sell for a huge profit on the open market.

Guide:
Head to: CITY > BITS N BOBS > BUY 100 BEER (max per day)
go back to: CITY > ITEM MARKET > SEARCH BEER > CHECK PRICE AND LIST YOUR BEER FOR $10 LESS THAN LOWEST PRICE

If there is no beer available when you first look. Check again later, as they restock regularly.

Stashing cash:
As a brand new player getting mugged is an inevitability, but you can mitigate the damage by storing your cash in items which you can sell when you later need it.

Some good items include:
-Cheaper drugs like cannabis and ecstacy
-Cheaper bottles of beer (less than $1500 each) the price will go up meaning you can purge your stash and profit at the same time
-Eventually points and more expensive highly tangible items like xanax become very effective (points are good when you have earned your first millions because you can buy them from the points market and sell them to the pawn shop with no risk of getting buy-mugged)

Important Advice:
There are lots of ways to play torn, but the fundamental basis for the game is your battle stats. Getting a good start on training can be the difference between you loving this game because you're progressing quickly, and hating how stale and slow it is.

Because stats are so important, I suggest only using energy to TRAIN IN THE GYM.

Don't search the dump, don't waste time mugging other new players for peanuts. You'll get a chance to slap other players and make your millions once you've got higher stats.

Exception to the rule:
Personally I think selling losses early on in the game can be an excellent way to kit out your armoury, but make sure to train as well.

Job:
I'm not expert here. But in the very very early days, I can see huge benefits in joining the ARMY or will allow you to use job points for strength, meaning you can use all your energy training the other three stats.

Gym:
Keep your stats even! They're all important, especially to begin with.

Missions:
Always do your missions, and don't be afraid to ask for help

Other important things:
Join crimes 2.0 asap - by clicking the finger print on crimes

Use all your nerve on crimes whenever possible - searching for cash is a great place to start. You can find millions of dollars worth of items

Search the CITY MAP OFTEN - downloading the TornPDA app or using torn tools on your browser will highlight often high value items randomly hidden in the map

Always have an education course running

Ask for help - lots of players on here are nasty, vindictive bullies living out their wildest criminal fantasies, but some of us are happy to give you a bit of starter cash or free advice!

I'll add to this as and when I need to, and I'm happy to take genuine constructive advice!!

Hope this helps

Some tips on education:
-no clue where to start? Sport Science Bachelor
-Planning to trade/RW? Biology: introduction to biochemistry and intravenous therapy are good early courses (there is a small chance you’ll get AB+ type blood which means you can’t selfhosp and that’s a huge limitation, sometimes enough to justify restarting over)
-trader after getting blood bags from intravenous therapy: history might be nice
- some courses also unlock things like access to hacking crimes, which you might want to pick up along the way early on too

some choices are really dependent on your playstyle so look around a bit yourself too

Some tips on gym training:
You might decide not to “whore” until later (whoring means going really heavy one one stat, and honestly you should pick either defense or dex for it)
however don’t get to obsessed with keeping your stats even, since you’ll progress much faster if you train str at a gym with high strength gains, even if that messes up your build for a bit

I’d say in the very first gym, leave defense behind (if you want balanced stats), since in the second gym you should prioritise working on defense, in the third gym speed should be your focus, and from then you should be getting the hand of things and can just look at Wiki gym article yourself if you want to plan out your build. Note this doesn’t account for any rotating steadfastness your faction might have

Also for storing money:
look for items that have a floor value (Example) if you have time to slowly store your money, selling to NPC’s also means you won’t het buymugged when you liquidate and you don’t have to sell below a fair price (you might get a regular mug though)
-if your faction is trustworthy, use the faction vault
-if you need an easy way to store money consider getting a stock ticket (1% transaction fee and stocks do have some volatility which might be a advantage or disadvantage depending on what exactly your using them for) (also eventually get the drug pack and education time reduction stat block, but those are very expensive (I got the cheaper of the two, the education time reduction at around 88 M or something)
-GHOST TRADES are amazing if you use them right (note:6 hours max and need someone trustworthy) no cost, almost withdrawal/deposit

Mentions: Race cars: A $ Vault for Newbies

Note on selling losses:
-don’t go below 350 k (and if by some miracle this guide is old when you look at it check if the price hasn’t increased)
- if you have trouble finding a non-sketchy person buying losses consider joining Nebula (I used it and think it’s a great organisation for sellers) or LossesRus (I hear older players recommend it a lot, haven’t really tried myself)
- Have a goal, like owning a PI, affording Xanax or maybe even help finance a donator pack later on (watch out though, you will build addiction and below level 15 that’s hard to get rid of)
RenAb [3003655]
On that note get to level 15 ASAP:
-baldr’s guide is just amazing in general but it also has a great levelling target list or a website for it that also checks whether they are “okay” =
You can attack them(or otherwise hospital time remaining)
-level 15 unlocks flying, which unlocks a lot of strategies and gets your fellow players to take you more seriously
