call to action [reverting chat 2.0]

hello friends, this new chat is dogshit and its likely staff wont do anything about it or care until the year of our lord 2046

due to this, i'd like us to compile a list of features and collaboratively work towards a chat 2.0 which resembles the old 1.0.

please could you all assist me in writing out a list of features that would help and I can modify the thread

i'm sponsoring the creation of this but i'd love if anybody else could chip in to offset the costs.

To any coders who are interested in doing this, i'm willing to pay 1b to see it completed. It will likely need a few iterative modifications.

Some features that I would like to see:
toggle avatars
more compact chats
chat name colours
left align all messages
return hyperlink capability
online / offline / idle status as text [or something similar for colour blind]
long name clipping fix
timestamps - multiple toggles of a) timestamp on hover b) timestamp before name and c) no timestamp
opening chat logic to put private chat left of group chats


i can provide images of how the previous system looked and we can tweak it as we go, this script would be widely circulated to everybody so those that have had this forced upon them can optionally revert back to something resembling the semblance of normality.

An actual colourblind mode, the old chats was hard to see between online and idle, now in chats 2.0 it's basically impossible to see the tiny little ring around peoples profile images.

I hate how longer usernames are cut, if they fit in the old box, they must fit in this one:

Making the chatbox wider didn't improve anything...have to say...Chron ass sounds funny tho.

all chat should align to the left, having your own messages float around f**ks up the flow of reading entirely

Also links aren't clicky anymore

I don't like that it groups chats as open chats. I liked that it covered the bottom of my screen.

Would be nice if bogie's ego wasn't made of glass & we may actually get somewhere

Sort people by status/last online

Stop crying, once it connects to the server i'm sure it will be fine

i'll add the first to the list, the second seems like a lot of work, if it can even be done with js

bogie mentioned devs will fix the hyperlink bit so i'll scratch that off the list

DKK said he'd be up for this, can DKK solo do it or do we think multiple devs are needed?

more compact chats - ish it gets muddy if you go to compacted
chat name colours - can't be arsed see no need

online / offline / idle status as text [or something similar for colour blind] - Made it brighter, wasn't an issue before so can't be arsed with more
long name clipping fix - done
timestamps - multiple toggles of a) timestamp on hover b) timestamp before name and c) no timestamp - unless you rebuild the chat from the ws don't think this can be done as no timestamps in dom or you grab them from the ws and add them but that sounds horrendous and like way to much work / "removed" the one they added
opening chat logic to put private chat left of group chats - pretty sure this is a bug and will be fixed so can't be arsed
remove profile dropdown options in top bar of private chats so long-pressing still opens mini-profiles or long pressing chats in private chat opens mini-profile. - gets added back with the names but added it to the avatar in title as well

And work for Torn PDA as well
