This is an annoying issue on xiaomi phones where it forces dark mode on apps and make some of the image colors inverted. I'm mostly fine with this issue until I noticed that I cannot read username in forums. It would be nice if you could set the forceDarkAllowed to false.

2.0 chat formatting is awful on PDA now, combining the global trade faction and company chats, now hides both the chats i had tabs open on 24/7 when playing. There are no green notifications anymore that there is even new messages there. Finally i cant open a private chat at all

Hey there! My tabs disappear randomly once in a while, they'll reappear after some time (sometimes a couple of days). I tried to find a pattern in it but I couldn't, I also tried making new tabs but the bar will stay invisible.

I've only had this issue in the last couple of months, is this a known problem (or is it me)?

I've seen reports that this doesn't always fix it. I can't actually figure out what's causing the issue, as far as I can tell the websockets are loading fine so there shouldn't be any issues.

Torn chats as a whole are just incredible unstable right now, to be blatantly honest it's difficult to find a fix when we have no idea wtf is going on (and everything seems to be changing frequently).

I personally have an internet outage irl and will for the next week. I spent half my months mobile data plan last night trying to find the cause, so this isn't a thing I will be able to put much effort into anytime soon.

Please note this seems to be a Torn issue on iOS, not a PDA issue as people are reporting similar on different browsers.

For users on Android, clearing your cache should fix the issue. If you're on android and having this issue, please quote and let me know.

This didn’t work the first time I tried it even though the chat bars showed on my safari and chrome browsers on my iPhone. I tried again but I restarted my phone after clearing cache and now it works. I even re-enabled the name highlights and it’s still working. Maybe it will work for a few others as well.

Not sure if this is linked to the Chat 2.d'oh! update fiasco, or if there's something going on with PDA itself (as the issue didn't seem to be present when I logged into my account in my main mobile browser, Opera).

Long story short, the travel page (when landed abroad) is broken.

None of the "Buy" buttons work at all and, as you can see, it's structurally a complete mess. I even tried manually navigating to the forums to see if this issue had been reported (by typing the address in PDA's URL bar) but, it just loads a blank, endlessly "loading" page. It seems all pages are inaccessible while on the abroad location page, as I couldn't open the mail page either.

I've just reloaded the page in PDA while typing this and noticed that the flying page is also broken, shows the main flying animation but, nothing else (and the plane is sitting inside the travel caption box). It was fine when I was flying out less than 2 hours earlier, so could be something that's happened in the last couple of hours?

I should note that prior to taking the screenshot, I disabled all scripts, cleared the apps cache and then force closed/reopened the app. The issue clearly persists.

If this is a website issue, I'll happily repost this on the bugs page, just figured it might be a PDA issue since I was able to use the website in a browser.


EDIT: It might also be worth mentioning that the "fill" buttons seemed to change the value to the amount of the item currently available, rather than the maximum you could actually buy.

EDIT 2: I didn't spot this initially with the last edit but, the time remaining has also been removed from the flying page, just shows "Remaining Flight Time -". However, the arrival time inside the PPA app itself (on the main Profile page), shows correctly.


EDIT 3: Updating my systems (Android) WebView seems to have fixed the issue. It's possible that the issue fixed itself anyway but, it's a striking coincidence, as it's been a few months since I'd last updated WebView (my bad :-( ).

Remember to update your Android System WebView (WKWebview on iOS) regularly, it could save you a world of issues on this website and with TornPDA itself.

Hello All. Thank you very much for the feedback over the last few days and the various messages to try to solve (or minimise) the problems with chat 2.0. Especially to Kwack, who has been a great help in trying to find possible solutions and recommendations both here on the forums and on Discord.

As the Torn dev team has indicated in other posts, Torn PDA is a standalone application that unfortunately does not receive a direct and proactive technical feedback regarding new features or changes in the web; this makes it impossible for me to anticipate changes to certain elements of the website (although I don't know if this is something the devs check for themselves for Torn PDA or Torn Lite).

This can cause problems like the ones happening right now with the Vault Widget or the Mini Profiles, or problems that have also happened recently as in the case of the City Finder Widget (where no objects were being shown). These problems are detected, thanks to user reports, in a reactive way, taking a few days or weeks to be corrected, tested and accepted by Apple and Google. Unfortunately, this kind of reactive fixes now represent 90% of the time I can devote to the development of the application (as the app grew over the last few years, the number of features that depend on Torn and can break at any time has grown also significantly); and this, with the absence of other developers, make it harder and harder to allocate time to the development of new features (with the request list growing non-stop).

As a player, I wouldn't say Torn PDA isn't Torn's problem: +30k devices are using Torn PDA and Torn Lite on a daily basis. This leads me to believe that both are apps that do not only contribute to the game, but that players like to use. I think we all need to find a way to make things work so that we can enjoy playing our game, which is why we are here. I'm hopeful that the integration between both sides can be improved, since it can only be benefitial.

As for Chat 2.0, I cannot give an accurate assessment of what is happening right now. It seems that, in general, Chat 2.0 is experiencing problems on different architectures (iOS, Android and Desktop), although the experience varies a lot from user to user. Torn PDA uses native webviews on both platforms (Webview on Adroid and WKWebview on iOS), so, in general (apart from scripts, which rarely cause problems), Torn PDA should work properly if the web is fully compatible with the native webviews of the mobile platforms (which many other applications use).

At this point I think it is appropriate to wait for possible fixes from the Torn developers. Torn PDA version 3.1.9 was ready to be released to fix the problems with the Vault Widget that affect many users, but it will possibly be delayed pending whether it should incorporate any additional improvements.

I just wanted to give my point of view and try to explain a bit better why some things fail in Torn PDA, how they are (or are not) related to Torn and why sometimes update cycles do not allow the application to be completely free of reactive problems like these.
