Does anyone know why does being online as an employee makes you more effective in your company?

I don't really understand it, I thought being offline and letting your character stay in the job is already effective.

It doesn't make you more effective, it prevents an inactivity bonus from building up which decreases your effectiveness.

If you go offline for more than a day a inactivity bonus will start to build, after a few days offline your effectiveness hits zero. This is a balancing thing to prevent high stat players that are taking a break from sitting in companies and making money with no real involvement.

Also, just to clarify, just logging in won't make you active for company purposes. You'll need to do some actions to make it count as you being active too. In my first company we had a guy who got two days of inactivity bonus piled up even though he logged in because he didn't do anything. The day after he trained e and did some crimes and he was counted as active again

Also, for clarity, there’s no benefit to being online at company new day. So long as you actively play the game every day it doesn’t matter when (so long as there aren’t any 24h+ gaps).
