small idea i came up with(inspired by bomber crew), basically a crew of ten will manage a b-17 and go on different missions (assigned by me or the crew's choice) the missions grant money and extra assignments grant a bonus that varies depending on importance and danger, the money can be used to upgrade the plane (engines, armor, guns, fuel tanks, systems) if a crew member dies then a new person comes into take their spot.

name:
desired position:
pilot (Deamon
co-pilot(wood)
front gunner (Marshall)
tail gunner (Cariciok)
ball gunner
top gunner(Charon)
left gunner (Ricardo)
right gunner (Toto Phasmul)
engineer (bombs and reparations) Gaz
coms(navigation):Yeager

I'm happy to make an opening post, just curious though. What is the timeframe (as in what era are we in) and is this in the context of a larger war?
Wood [2175573]
Wood sighed as he looked up at his new home for the foreseeable future. It was a B-17, one of the craft he had trained to pilot. His scoring had been good, but not the best, so he had been marked as a co-pilot. His job would be to allow the pilot to focus by coordinating location, targets on the run, and the overall condition of the crew. He also had the important job of keeping an eye on the fuel gauge. They could only do so many runs before they only had enough to get back. And if the head winds were wrong or a storm got in there way… well, they’d find a cushy patch at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

They’d been given a covered hanger in a field somewhere near Norfolk. The base was busy with the offloading of troops and the rotation of those already there. America had just entered the war, and Wood had been one of the first in line at the recruitment office in Philly. He’d opted to join the Air Force, given that it seemed it would be a while before the Allies could get a foothold in Europe. And he didn’t fancy Africa or whispers of Sicily and Greece.

Wood sat on a supply crate near his new flying home and took out a small journal. He’d been recording his movements and thoughts. Nothing that would compromise sensors, and purely for himself. Though, if he had to bail out, he’d be sure to destroy it before hand. He pulled his jacket closed as a cold breeze swept across the field. It’d be many times colder in the sky…

"Beautiful plane isn't it" said and an engineer passing by the hangars, his cap almost flying off with the wind. "heard it still needs a crew but it should be flying soon" h said as he began walking toward a damaged p-36.

Toto Phasmul is training with his comrades. The drill sergeant is quite harsh as they shout at someone who do not follow their instructions. Even the term "go to bench" is pretty much a horrifying word because of what will the drill sergeant do to the soldiers failing to listen the instructions. Toto says that he is will get through this and show his grit.

(We probably won't get any other players, so I recommend moving this along as much as possible. The RP community in Torn is small. As such I'll pick up the pilot position with one of my other characters.)

Wood looked up and went to respond, but the man was already on his way. He decided to take a step on to the plane and see what it had to offer. He stepped inside and ducked low. Flying typically wasn't a tall-man's job, but no one had informed Wood before he enlisted. He'd seen the inside of a B-17 during training, but this was the first one with full munitions and armament.

Guns hung in their balls and off the left and right. He saw a tail gun in a small pocket to the back of the plane. Above him hung a dozen or so bombs, with more on racks behind. A small causeway connected the back of the plane to the front, where the top-ball gunner would sit and, further forward, the pilot and co-pilot. Immediately below the pilots was a small desk with radio equipment and maps. They were currently held down by nothing, but Wood planned to find some small nails or pins to keep them tacked to the desk. Last thing you wanted was your papers flying off and into the air. He was busy looking about when he heard some footsteps behind him. He turned around to see a blonde-haired boy, no older than 21, with his kit bag slung over his shoulder. Wood stepped back from the desk and gave the man a brief look over.

"Morning. She's a beauty. I'm Daemon, to be the pilot of this ship." Daemon said, extending his hand. Wood smiled and shook the man's hand.

"A pleasure. Looks like we're the first two here. Just waiting on the gunners and comm man now I suppose." Wood said as he walked towards the cockpit, Daemon a few steps behind.

A man no older than 30 enters the plane followed by another person a lot younger than him.
"i see the others arrived already." said the man taking his cap off "name's Tod and this fella next to me is Dan" he pointed at a man a lot younger than him, around 21 years or so. "Pleasure to meet you both" said Dan reaching to shake woods hand "I'm on the top turret and tod is on the ball gun."

"*Huff* *Huff* here..."

Toto Phasmul said as he arrives with fresh uniform worn. "Toto... Phasmul... *Huff* Reporting... For... *Huff* Duty..."

Apparently Toto Phasmul went to bench when he accidentally threw a decoy grenade at the instructor's feet. His ears are visibly sore.

After taking the time to breathe, Toto properly introduces himself as the right gunner.

Marshal sees the plane as he is walking to it.So this is it,he is going to the war for real, in his 25s. He didn't know a thing about planes...

He was good at shooting people, so suddenly he saw himself given a gun and instructions to go to this plane.

He walked into the plane and saw four guys in the plane, he was the last(As he thinks) to arrive, like always. He loudly introduced himself as the front gunner and went straight to check how his position is.

some minutes a guy around 24 years or so enter the plane "Howdy fellas I'm Jim " he said waving his hand " I'm in charge of the left turret on this beautiful plane" he said as he walked off to his station.
