Hey everyone,

I want to address a blatant issue in RW matchmaking system, this is not a bug or an exploit, it is how i would describe as a poor and outdated search engine,

The biggest issue, is a lack of data handling for matchmaking, right now my current matchup, as a faction that has around 23k respect and the highest level is 25, we are being matched against factions with 250+ max chains, 130k+ respect, and multiple members lvl 40-70, situations like this should feel like a once a blue moon type of deal, but this is an average war for us,

When the website's ranked matchmaking takes place, it isn't factoring any real fairness, it doesn't care if the enemy will completly stomp you, to put it bluntly, at present, factions and RW's feel locked off to players who have not been around for years,

this is counterintuitive on many fronts, and in my personal experiences with other players who are involved, this simply breeds frustration on a level that pushes new or returning players away,

i understand that there is an elemtent of toughing out the grind, but the grind isn't comparable, most people want to see reward for their efforts after 6 months, but this current system does the exact opposite of that, it puts you against unwinnable odds constantly and says "well you tried your best"

i don't think this is a great model, both in terms of gameplay/user experience, nor in terms of business,

i would like to see the system revised, so that it factors gym stats and other query functions that allow for much closer, and fairer fights,
let the level 70's bash eachothers faces in, when you pit them against people like me? all that is being said is that we are spending a weekend in hospitall with no rewards, whilst the enemy bores themselves into free cache's, is this the experience we all want? where warring serves no purpose besides milking ingame currencies? i truely hope not,

Link a few of them so I can look at their war history.

Your last war, the highest level of your enemy faction was 40, and a level 15 made 128 attacks on your guys. Similar situation with Lowkey Lunatics. You've had some difficult matchups, but you've also had so very winnable ones.

What kind of tactics are utilizing? Are you familiar with the term "turtleing?" Are you getting stat spies and sharing them with your faction? Have you used friendly bounties to take away targets? Have you thought about doing a few chains in between wars, to get your guys active and working together? What rank do you think you should be?
Gravysan [3018554]
i'll give you one link just to prove the point, https://www.torn.com/factions.php?step=profile&ID=50682#/

in terms of war tactics, every war we are now,

- pre hosping half our members with third party factions
-keeping our members hosped and feeding them morphine for when trhey want to score points,
-slow chaining (generally imposssible when most factions have 10-15 members in our bracket)
-focus hitting to maximise score when we can't even chain, which is most wars now,
-my co-leader and members scout for level holders and more,

we do more than that, but i dont feel the need to list the average day of a faction leader,

my point is, we are working our asses off, but the matchmaking system is mega f**ked
JackKelly [2271177]
They've had a single war back in November, which they won. You aren't going to match against factions that are not enlisting, so unfortunately that does not prove a point.

Mismatches do happen, especially in bronze, and unfortunately your upcoming war is one of those, but not every war you've been in has been unwinnable. Maniacal misfits, Lowkey lunaitcs, Street saints of insignia, Ethereal blade, and especially Machinieries rebels were all matchups that you couldve won.
Gravysan [3018554]
and how do you expect us to win versus factions that are consistently 1000+ days old

stop saying "you could of won them"

and start saying HOW we could of won them, because you are not being helpful,

i gave you ONE example out of several, im not throwing everyone under the bus, and the other factions i speak to also have this issue and dont even want to try
also, you wanted proof, not an encyclopedia of all the low leveled factions, that's kinda goalpost shifting, and i don't appreciate it fella

im actually working my ass off, and cannot even come close to winning,
the only win we've really had, was months ago, and they got fedded for multi accounting,

i understand im frustrated, but i want solutions, and this is not that, you've grinded for 1000's of days, when was the last time you could seriously relate to this issue mate? honestly? i mean, can you?
Antril [3021498]
This is not a suggestion though, this is an opinion.

How do you suggest to fix matchmaking in a way that is provably better and not abusable?
Gravysan [3018554]
i answered that already further down the same comment

"a lack of data handling for matchmaking"
"i would like to see the system revised, so that it factors gym stats and other query functions that allow for much closer, and fairer fights, "

some of it is opinion, but alot of it is also observation, please learn to read,
Antril [3021498]
That's not a suggestion, that's an idea. How should it factor gym stats? You know it already does right?
And what other value should it be using? Query functions (on top of not meaning what you think ti does) doesn't mean anything, what exactly should it be using? And how should that be handled? Can you show a solid argument that it would be a improvement? Is there any risk of it being abused more?

Go read other suggestion threads and see the difference between theirs and yours. You have an opinion and are expecting people to figure out what to do based on your opinion. That is not a suggestion, you cannot expect to gather support for your ideas if you don't put any effort into it.
JackKelly [2271177]
How the f**k am I supposed to tell you how you should've won when I wasn't there to watch or participate in the war? I only have the war reports to look at, and comparing those factions to yours, they weren't mismatches. If they were more active, organized, or had better gear, those are not factors. On paper, those wars could've went either way.

And I have some bad news that you should go ahead and wrap your head around in regards to this game. It's very long term. Meaning 1k days isn't anything. There are thousands of players that can one hit me, and me not even damage them during an attack. There are people with a decade or more of a head start that I could never realistically catch up with, stat wise or networth. So yes, i can relate.
Gravysan [3018554]
i can't argue with this level of toxic human behaviour,

as defined in the dictionary,

Suggestion - "an idea or plan put forward for consideration."

not only do you compare me to others, which in itself is toxic, and regarded as the death of joy, but you're not even right! you can't grasp basic language, and just make a fool of yourself,

please, go away, you are the worse than useless, you are a pest,
Gravysan [3018554]
then f**k off with the whole "you should of won" attitude,

if you cannot tell me, then you are full of shit, are you not?

i won;t even bother reading the rest of your comment, im sure it's as inept as the start of it,
Ampheromine [2065865]
False. Average battle stats are indeed a factor in the matchmaking process. Please read here: https://wiki.torn.com/wiki/Ranked_War#Matchmaking

You, like many others who have posted the same before you, are a prime example of inefficient preparation/research for the ranked war concept. It is extremely intricate, on purpose, and it's suggested that you do a fair bit of research before entering this arena lest you find yourself very disappointed. Add to this that you began running your faction at barely a month game age and you have what is frankly a recipe for disaster.

The wiki is free and accessible to all users at the top of each Torn page.
JackKelly [2271177]
For starters, I said they were winnable, not that you should of won. I dont know what hours you or the other faction were active or not. I'm willing to bet at any given hour, most of your faction would be offline and being farmed by the enemy.

I didn't want to come out and say it, but the reason your faction can't win a war is because of you. You don't have the resources or game knowledge (or patience) to be leading a faction. Thats why everyone and their mother will advise against new players starting companies or factions, but you decided to go for it, and here we are.

Whats funny, and sad, is in your first post you commented on how this rw system pushes new and returning players away. When in fact, it is joining dead end factions run by inexperienced leaders that is the biggest bane to player retention. I'll be surprised if a quarter of your faction mates are still playing in a year, whereas had they joined an established faction, that supplies free meds, armor, weapons, beer, drugs and properties, as well as an engaging and active chat with plenty of experienced players to offer advice, then they would actually learn how to play and be more likely to continue playing.
Antril [3021498]
The irony of claiming I'm toxic and then calling me a pest in the same post.

Like, do you even listen to yourself? "not only do you compare me to others, which in itself is toxic"...like dude, get off the pedestal, you're not special. Literally everyone has explained you why you're wrong, and you're still doubling down on it and leashing out to anyone who disagrees with you. Go back and reread things because there was absolutely nothing toxic in what I said. Maybe it didn't have a friendly tone, but that's it. I didn't jump at name calling immediately like you did.

Tl;dr: Grow up kid

that was a very long way of saying "you proved that im idiot, but imma keep going"
you claim i am wrong, but that;s not true neither, the others havent really proven anything, and when they made their assertions, i easily disporved them, biut then you all engage in goalpost shifting, it's very frustrating, and then you wonder why i might display something that seems like lashing out>?

it's because none of you wish to seriously address an issue, you all make up so many excuses, as if you dont even care if a system is functioning as intended or not, it's all assumptions, none of you have facts against me,

you all act like really spoilt brats, about to have your good thing taken away, "heaven forbid! dont revise something!"

TLDR - you are a narcisist, that cannot grasp basic language, a very toxic human being

as for jackkelly's nonesense, i will document it fully here, so you cannot lie further,

-claims i am weakest faction in torn (quickly disproven with an example) - then goalpost shifts
"have you considered the fact that you just may be the weakest faction warring?" - factually not true

-ask's what tactics we use (explain exactly what tactics we use) - didnt comment, as if theres no issue with our tactics, or knowledge base of the game) - keep acting like we are inexperinced idiots, but then after ignoring all those comments about war tactics he says this!
"Mismatches do happen, especially in bronze"

HE f**kING ADMITS IT!

-claims we could of won certain matchups, but refuses to explain at any point how this would happen, making radical assumptions, that he then pretends he didnt say further down (ask him to explain how we could of won, and push back against this very arrogant stance)
"but not every war you've been in has been unwinnable. Maniacal misfits, Lowkey lunaitcs, Street saints of insignia, Ethereal blade, and especially Machinieries rebels were all matchups that you couldve won"
-- claim of not saying this "For starters, I said they were winnable, not that you should of won"

for emphasis "WERE ALL MATCHUPS THAT YOU COULDV'E WON"

i'll stop here, i think i've made it very clear, that im trying to reason with someone wh is not sound of mind, and just says whatever the hell they feel like,
Gravysan [3018554]
and finally
  • Ampheromine [2065865]
  • i'm not a retard mate, i've read the wiki, but there's still issues with the mtachmaking system,

i'm a returning player form years ago, and have a secret backer/invester since the start,
so all of those assumptions are exactly that, keep your accusations to yourself, and get some prove,

you are the defintion of an arrogant ****,
