can someone completely explain the move to 2.0 benefits... don't "you have to move eventually or you are such a noob or it's the right thing to do for CE....

i have seen how torn has done things for 16 years.... gym 2.0 was a fail, busting 1.0 was a fail, stocks 1.0 and 2.0 was a fail... even the NCP's are a fail...

give me hard evidence 2.0 it is not a fail

if it is not... when is the forced conversion date? i mean crimes 2.0 was promised 10+ years ago, so the forced conversion is what 5-6 years from now???

A fair question. I see an overall consistency with updates in crimes 2.0, so no real reason not to expect this to continue.

I migrated in the first day, and I haven't regreted it. It's much better in terms of gameplay, and it probably won't take too long to find the best CE crime (some say it's released already). And, if you migrate later, or if you wait for the forced migration, you'll be late to get to the best crimes.

Pretty sure the only reason to stay in 1.0 is if you're doing hacking.

Curio you need to join crimes 2.0 now. There are a LOT of crime merits to earn and that is before i start talking about advanced stuff.

Sometimes in brand new crimes items have insanely high market value when they are new. You are missing out on that money making opportunity if you sit in the old defunct crime system.

You have to join crimes 2.0 now. Trust me.

Sup Curio.

I think Crimes 1.0 was very grindy. Once you did your merits you kinda just did arsons and nothing else. I didn't see many crimes after 12 nerve, so why did they exist? Also - what was the difference between a 1-nerve crime and an 11-nerve crime? The cash payout and the risk-reward. That was it. 2.0 in comparison is a billion times different.

Crimes 2.0 (I hate to say it) is pretty good and well-designed. Sure it probably could be better in ways and some of the crimes are still gritty, but there is an element where you have to 'think' applied to each crime.

I'm flying so gonna struggle off the top of my head but here are some examples.

Pickpocketing - You can pickpocket a variety of characters within the city. Each character has a different difficulty and different rewards. Additionally, each character also has different 'stances', so maybe they are idle, maybe they are jogging, or maybe they are distracted on their phone. All the people are on timers so after 10-60 seconds they vanish and new people come after a little while.

So? Instead of mindlessly just spamming pickpocketing, you can kinda pick and choose who you want to pickpocket.

Cracking - Kinda hacking, kinda not. You use your PC (if you want) to help your cracking skills and crack more letters at once. If you get enough letters, you can guess the other characters but you only have a limited number of guesses. By upgrading your PCs (max of 3) you can unlock more letters at once, and at a later level, more encryption levels at once. So it is kinda like a Hangman mini-game without the ability to lose (unless you fail).

So? Again - allows you to just grind if you want, waste all your E - or you can take time and try and work out what the password is to save yourself some Nerve for other crimes.

Disposal - As someone made me realize recently - you get a limited number of disposal crimes per day so it's nearly impossible to just grind this. Each 'item' you are asked to dispose of has several different ways it can be disposed of - each with its own nerve count and rewards. For example, taking it to a dump, burning it, burying it, and dissolving it in acid.

So? Once you have finished doing whatever crimes you were focusing on - you have other crimes to go back to. It has now become relatively nice to focus on multiple crimes at once. Shoplifting when the cameras are down, pickpocketing when a certain person is there, disposing of the items you want to dispose of.

Finally - You also have uniques that appear at certain points throughout each crime. Each unique provides you with a pretty nice reward for the nerve value. An erotic DVD, some drugs, a box of grenades - OR an item that helps you complete other crimes like a shovel or a metal detector. Pretty cool!

The merits, change of pace, and how well planned out the crimes have been so far - it's kind of worth switching from 1.0 to 2.0.

Is 2.0 perfect? Absolutely not.

Is it significantly better than 1.0 for a range of reasons? Absolutely.

How it will fit into CE and future OC's I don't know. But if OC's end up anything like 2.0 I look forward to it.

I hope this helps a friend.

Short advice for this question.
Do you like money? Then just stay at crime 1.0 and spent your nerve on fbi hack crimes.
Do you like merits or just any other reasons? Then move to 2.0 instead.

I would say the crime 2.0 is kinda shit in term of money but it's only on the level of "low-tier" right now according to what ched said somewhere before, however you gain and more CE with your NNB leveling up like a breeze allowing you to do even more crimes.

I am quite saddened when i see people saying they are still in the old crime system.

i do nag my friends and they have all been very happy i nagged them when they are brave enough to do it.

The merits alone are worth it arent they? even without thinking about the intrepid money earning opportunity on items used in new crimes.

I clicked graffiti less than 2 months and i got 12 merits from it.

Dont hide in the past. crimes 2.0 is good and anyone not joining it is hurting themselves in the game.
CockyNudist [2209950]
Merits are a great reason, and then there's also the fact that I switched over just recently and have 65 nnb, but people below me on our CE list have 75 nnb because they've gotten the random increases that come with using 2.0.
Nexus [105937]
Its actually fun, and engaging.

All the other hypothetical stuff and guesswork about CE, etc aside, this should be reason enough, no?
JackKelly [2271177]
If you're that worried about it don't switch over until you have to. If everything else in this game is such a failure, why are you still playing it? You seem like you're going to look for something to be wrong with it.
DaDood [2204689]
When I switched to Crimes 2.0 I immediately got more merits than I had under Crimes 1.0.
Since being in Crimes 2.0, I have earned more merits than I would have under Crimes 1.0.

Merits for the win!

Also, Crimes 2.0 is far less boring than Crimes 1.0. Each crime requires decisions on what to do - and the decision making is different for each crime. You also make strategic decisions on how to use Nerve across crimes. (Do I crack the more complex passwords I get each day which take a lot of nerve, or just the easier ones and use the nerve on more graffiti crimes to get merits there?)
Mizadil [2640357] Committee Committee
In addition to what others have mentioned, OCs 2.0 will require specific crime skills for each OC. If you don't build up your crime skills prior to the release of OC2.0, you will be useless for OCs.

I switched after it was out for a couple weeks and people said they were enjoying it. Some of the crimes are grindy, others you have to make specific decisions on how you're going to perform the crime.

It's a lot more engaging, the crime writing is entertaining all the way to downright hilarious at times (They really bash on the player base and staff members in a lot of them. It's a good time), and of course, lots of new merits.

I don't regret switching at all. You seem pretty upset at the fact you'll be forced to switch. You don't need to be upset, just switch and start up on it. No reason to get mad here lol.

why do you keep suiciding your forum karma for the same copy/paste shitpost without even bothering to profit where you can in 2.0 (and much easier than hacking) lmao
