Total respect has long been a sign of pride and status for a faction in torn, but most importantly, it has meant better faction upgrades. Knocking out that chain to finally reach that next helpful upgrade was always a big achievement in torn and provided a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment, but has that started to fade?

The scaling cost of faction upgrades was presumably created to prevent a handful of factions from just simply maxing out every faction tree upgrade, or at the very least preventing them from having an obscene upgrade advantage over the rest of the factions in the game if there was too much of a lack of parity. In current day torn we have reached a point where I will argue the OPPOSITE of the desired outcome has occurred.

As of right now, 23 factions have over 10m respect. Anyone in pretty much any of those factions can likely attest to the fact that they have pretty much all of the important upgrades someone in the faction would need, and that addition upgrades, due to the scaling cost, provide very little additional benefit for the amount of respect required for the next upgrades. This means that as factions enter this range of respect, there ends up being very little benefit to gaining additional upgrades, and an ever decreasing advantage for the top faction in respect as far as the benefits they can offer their members.

My take on this is pretty straightforward - faction upgrades needs a rework. What exactly that rework involves I would leave up to the community/staff for ideas.

What do you think?

TLDR: Faction upgrades needs a rework

Fkn furries.

Tho the fact that HOF factions don't even care about being DB'd because of how few upgrades they lose is a good example of my point.

nothing better to use 25 energy on than the same players you hit for chains to get the same perks you just had

What he means is that, it has gotten to a point when after you surpass a certain point, you dont even need to chain. you have all the important upgrades and due to scaling, the final ones wont be worth the time and effort.

f**k u i was typing a response now you make me look stupid

dont make me pee on the faction xanax again

you’re asking for a rework when crimes 2.0 and oc 2.0 is on the eve and full swing, so you won’t get an update anyways

There are 329 factions over 1m respect, only 23 of them are over 10m respect, which is about 7%.

Even at 8.3m respect in Chromatic, we are happy to add new upgrades every two weeks or so although we are #42 rank (top 12% of the factions over 1m). I have friends from factions with less respect about 3-4m they are still working towards 40+ nerve etc.

So I don't see any stagnation here only point of view of the elite :-)

If you like grinding for respect and see how your contribution help the faction week in and out, if this is something you enjoy doing, join a less respect faction. NS4 for instance. Torn has different play styles, some people like to have everything maxed out, some like grinding. Choose what you like doing. Going for the max of everything then getting bored isn't how we should be playing a game imo.

rework takes alot of planning before any actual work is done, even if they start now, it will take years.
Hartje [11746]
In all fairness, you probably explained the point of my post more clearly in 2 lines than I did multiple paragraphs.
Hartje [11746]
Yea its a point of the elite to an extent, but even that 23 factions is what - 2k people? That is a major percentage of the long term players in the game. And its not about going for the max in everything, its about the fact that so many top factions have reached a point where going for anything else no longer matters. I WANT a rework where even the top faction do not have the max in everything, and therefore have something to strive for.

I was previously in PT Factions for the majority of my time here on Torn. Whilst I loved the perks granted to me, it wasn't until I left and bought a 70k shell and started to grow it with new players that I really began to respect the grind that years and years of time grants. The oldest player in your Faction is Goobs at 3322 days at the time of writing this, just over nine years. You've been there for just over three years... All that time spent playing has culminated in where you are now, though it sounds like you've reached the top of the mountain and then gone... well, now what? It's your choice where you are in the game. Hell, you're nearly 7000 days.. that's got to mean you've damn near completed everything there is to offer?

I don't think the perks system needs a revamp, it's pretty extensive and takes a damn long time to get anywhere that you can entice players with anything more than fantastic marketing and slogans. Maybe it's time for you to take a chance and, after three years serving, start from the bottom of the mountain again with a vision of getting back there again?
