Do you remember when RWing came out and matches were made by stats, and all the HoF factions banded together to make one giant collective whine so Ched would change it? Then, all those HoF faction elevated to diamond and have been playing the system since, rigging wars, printing money, and eventually crashing the RWing system, leaving us with this current mess we have?
This reminds me of that. I don't think the respect or upgrade system needs to be reworked to benefit those at the top any more than those at the top get benefitted. You're outlining the reasons the system is exponential in its required respect and then asking that system he reworked. It's Jeff Bezos asking for less taxes
Indeed, some players also reached a point no one can hit them and it gets so stagnant. Perhaps it is time to adjust them a bit so we can all have more fun and they have something to strive for
About 20-30 currently I would say are in the range where upgrades start to stagnate. The number will only continue to grow if problem is continued to be ignored further.
I feel as if you're wildly over-estimating how quickly you will be able to reach that same stagnation point if you were to buy a <100k respect faction and pursue it as an independent. You might say "doesn't really offer much" but these last 148 days of my Torn experience have been vastly enriching, teaching and hitting those small milestones is extremely rewarding. Maybe we play Torn for different reasons, and that's fine - but to suggest an entire game rework because you're bored of something rather than making your own game-play changes because you're bored of something needs highlighting.
The genius German prodigy Air has explained to me that since not all faction have reached the point of stagnation where respect no longer matters, it is therefore not a problem to all the factions that have. I rescind my point in the thread and accept that it is GOOD for the game for all HOF factions to have little to no point in gaining respect because some factions still only have 100k respect.
I would agree more in DBs hurting more than to rework factions.
If a DB was to erase 10% of a faction it would hurt.

HoF earned their spot due to collectively hard work, if they run out of goals y'all need to push yourself to make new ones. Maybe have the best companies in the game at #1 spot, heck if the game has been stale you need to do what makes you happy :)
Torn is a game about chasing carrots. When people catch carrots it does remove some incentive to play. I would agree this is something that can be addressed probably without even a total rework, but simple upgrades.
Chedburn suggested this before, he wanted to allow every faction to get every perk all at the same time, the costs would go much higher, but earlier perks would be much cheaper, also you wouldn't be allowed to change perks often. It got voted down but would have been so cool imo
Even 10% would hurt less than you think at the highest respect, Upgrades start to cost 400k+ respect per, an amount that is basically not worth actively trying for. A DB on ns2 with an increased effect would cost what, 4-5% in a passive on the last tree?
I know that my gripe is something that people in factions that are still growing do not currently have to deal with, but for the HOF factions, the stagnation is real.
Don't lose faith man. Every time someone suggests higher end progression a bunch of casual/younger players come try to rip it apart, as if they haven't got tons of content updates that benefit them in recent years
This is only an issue because of the fake wall/chaining/respect farming era. If people didn't abuse that system then they wouldn't have more respect than they need.
I don't see how Ched can rework this system in a way that's also fair to smaller factions who haven't unlocked everything.
