Hello! I had two questions regarding wars.
First, if someone is ‘abroad’ or ‘traveling’ and I cannot attack them, should they be able to attack me in torn city? It seems weird to me, one person has done it several times just checking
Two, is there etiquette for war? My faction leader told us just to leave them in the streets no mugging which is fine, however in this particular war (it’s my third) ‘someone’ keeps mugging me (getting no money not really a big deal) and I’m curious if there’s a way to tell which one it is, like some sort of spying mechanism or whatnot, to be able to bounty him or her? Just curious as I don’t want to punish the wrong person :)
They can only attack you while in the same location, so if youre in torn, they have to be there as well, and the same goes for if youre abroad. They likely attacked you and then flew away right after if youre thinking they are hitting you when theyre flying.
The reason your leader wants you to leave is because leaving gives the most respect, which is the method in which wars are fought (more respect gained than other faction = win). So mugging can be better for an individual in the short term, but leaving helps the faction the most (and also gives more exp)
someone can travel and catch the person abroad in another country and hosp them. If that happens they are generally out of commission for a while because they cant access their items. So it is a risky strategy. They can't attack people that are in Torn, only people that are at the same destination can attack each other.
You don't mug because mugging gives less of a score when finishing the attack. Hosp and leave give equal amounts. I don't recall how much less mugging gives, but it's substantial. If you don't know who is mugging you, then you don't know if it is war related or not. But to answer your question, the only way to find out who the person that is stealthily mugging you is to have a friend be on your attack page at the time "someone" attacks you. They shouldn't start the fight though, just sit there and watch. They will be able to see who is attacking you, even if it shows up as "someone" in the events.
Very interesting, thank you both of satisfying my curiosity. I appreciate it!
As mentioned above, mugging gives you less respect!
However there is other reasons, especially if you are farming an offline opponent!
1. They'd be stupid to be sat with millions in pocket during war, and even if they were you'd be unlikely to know if they'd been mugged shortly before giving them some mug protection!
2. Mugging opponents gives them longer time in hospital as compared to leaving them in street, so if you are farming an inactive you are going to have to wait so much .onger to hit them again (possibly up to twice as long)!
Its also not great to mug during a chain due to respect gained!
And mugging Duke mission targets is generally worthless and should 9nly really mug them when that's the mission request!
As nobody has mentioned it once their chain is dead the report becomes public and you can see who was mugging in their chain
To find out if it is a war opponent mugging you you can check the attack under your faction and see if it gave the 2x respect war bonus.
That only works if you know which faction they are from and only 1 person was mugging. Also less than 10 hits doesn't give a chain report..
There is no etiquette. Typically, we follow the rules set up by the factions. You will have to trust that your Faction Leader knows what they are talking about. In this case, it may be the faction needs the respect points for the war. There are other reasons but may times you can either ask about the reason or the information is posted in your faction forum.

If it was a war hit, regardless of stealth you know what faction they was from. True they need to have a chain going but that’s the biggest mechanic of a rw
Thats only during the live feed. If you go into the faction logs, it doesn't distinguish war hits from non war hits. With the deduction to respect gained due to mugging, it would be hard to tell if an attack that is not still in tthe live feed was a war hit from far stronger opponent, or a non war hit with a decent fair fight multiplier.
Plus i didn't want to have to explain what any of that meant to a month old player.
