Using TornTools & Tampermonkey on Android

While TornPDA is nice, with a few extra steps on an Android device, you can enjoy all the features of TornTools and Tampermonkey scripts..
This guide will walk you through step by step on how to do just that.

Part 1: Getting the add-on collection ready.

Step 0: You will need to make a Mozilla account. This is required to create an add-on collection.
Step 1: On the TornTools Addon Page, tap "Add to collection"

Step 2: Tap "Create New Collection" in the box that pops up

Step 3: Enter anything for the collection name & description, make note of the 8 numbers that will be where I have the black box in the image.

Step 4: On the Tampermonkey Addon Page, Tap "Add to collection"

Step 5: Select the add-on collection you made in Step 3. At this point you can also add any other add-ons you'd like.

Part 2: Installing & Setting up Fennec (Firefox based browser)

Step 1: Fennec is not on the Play Store, so it will need downloaded from its F-Droid Page. You may need to enable installation from unknown sources (just Androids way of saying to allow apps to be installed from places other than the Play Store). Google how to do this if you do not know how to.

Step 2: Once Fennec is installed, navigate to "Settings" then "About Fennec"

Step 3: Tap on the Fennec logo 5-10 times. This will unlock the advanced options, which allows us to install add-ons not specifically made for Android.

Step 4: Now in the settings menu, there will be some new options. Select "Custom Add-on collection".

Step 5: Enter the 8 numbers from Part 1, Step 3, and the name of your Add-on collection

Step 6: Fennec will restart, re-open it then navigate to "Settings" then "Add-ons"

Step 7: Hit the + for TornTools and Tampermonkey

Step 8: Congrats, you now have TornTools and Tampermonkey on your Android device. Just a few more things to finish setup and you're golden.

Part 3: Configuring Tampermonkey & TornTools

Since Tampermonkey wasn't made with mobile devices in mind, it can be a little odd to navigate to the dashboard for it. However, when installing scripts from a link, a page will pop up like normal, allowing for easy installation of scripts.

To navigate to the dashboard:

Select "Add-ons" then "Tampermonkey" from the menu

Select "Dashboard" then you can edit scripts like you would on a desktop.

For TornTools, getting to the settings is different since there is no sidebar on Torn's mobile website. So you have to go to Torn's setting page, which now will have a TornTools settings option at the bottom. This will allow you to setup and configure TornTools just like you would on a desktop.

This implementation isn't perfect, since these add-ons were not made with Android/mobile in mind, however I have found most things to work. If you have any questions feel free to ask below. As a bonus, you can also change the Fennec app's name to "Torn" and it's icon to the Torn app's icon.

R+ for visuals and details, but Fennec looks way too complicated for most users to set up in comparison to alternatives like Kiwi browser. From years of personal experience, Kiwi works just fine with 99% of TamperMonkey based scripts and TornTools as well.

Yeah, the initial setup is a bit convoluted. I personally prefer open source software when possible, so this should help anyone else who prefers open source software to get the same features. Thanks for the feedback!

Though I just use Firefox Beta instead of Fennic (using Torn in the same browser I regularily use, so Discord opens links correctly)

Only issue is TornTools refusing to work with TornStats even though Tampermonkey scripts seem to not have an issue with it... But that's really nothing at this point.

Does this happen on firefox mobile as well? I remember it happening on kiwi.

TornTools only requests permission to connect to external sites when you enable the setting, and Kiwi has a bug in the optional permission grant. This was a Kiwi bug (presumably same issue here), and DKK opened a bug report with them something like 2 yrs back and still no fixes.

TM's permission flow is seperate and doesn't run into this bug.
