In Short

Torn being played without (arguably) the biggest part of it: Community.
You do not interact with anyone, and if you do it's in very limited ways.
You don't buy from players, you don't join factions or companies, you don't trade with players, you make everything by yourself.
You're all alone and all you do is by yourself, for yourself. Anything that you do connected to any other player should be to benefit as little as possible.
(Details in the longer version)

This is kind of my idea of having a multi account for players that just want to approach Torn in a different way than the easygoing way that we have right now. Everyone thrives because of other players, whether it's by gambling against player, trading with players, mugging players, claiming bounties from players... It all adds up to our wealth continuously rowing because of one another. What if you removed the player base and played Torn offline, with players still being there but not active. Well, that can't happen so there have to be some modifications…

The long version

Now, maybe if the developers like this idea they could make a path where you could make a second account and switch between your online and offline Torn, but I'm going to work with the concept of making a second account in this version of Torn as we know it, but with heavy restrictions.
What's wrong with having a second account? You can benefit yourself without really working hard. Torn can be a game where you actively keep playing and you are making progress in some ways, but most of the time, it consists of training when your energy is full, using items when drug/booster/meds cooldowns go off, flying for some profit, making hits in chains and wars and then it's all quiet. Torn can be, and usually is a very idle game that has slow progression, but what if you could play more Torn in a parallel universe where everything is disconnected? This post is not trying to promote making a second account, but if there was a way to make a second account just to be able to play more Torn this is way would be made sure that you are playing so that you don't break any of the intentions behind the rules.(Like making an account to just work in grocery store and keep sending your main account free energy drinks, maybe give yourself some free losses etc.)

Factions

You cannot join any factions
but you can make your own faction and be in it by yourself if you really wish to benefit from faction upgrades. It makes Chaining extremely difficult since you have no help, but you are meant to be separated from everyone, so either don't own a faction, or own the faction that you're in and have no one stay in there.

Territories are not allowed. It would bring too many technicalities’ discussions when it comes to interacting with other players, which is what we are trying to avoid as much as we can.

Of course, faction banking can be used as you wish, it's all you and your money. OCs cannot be done because you're the only player in the faction, upgrades are completely up to you to assign as you wish.

Ranked warring is not allowed, but most likely not even possible if you are only one person in a faction. Remains to be discussed, as ranked gear is now considered a necessity rather than a luxury.

Jobs

You can join any of the newspaper jobs and use them as you wish.
Join the military to work on your stats, join education to get better work stats quicker, join Law for crime boosts, it's up to you.

You cannot join or own a company. You would be competing against other players, helping other players and or benefiting because of other players, so companies are completely out of the question.

You can revive players for merits, but it must only be players with timers less than 10m in hospital. You cannot receive any payments from anyone. If they pay you with cash or items, you must send it back or delete the item (If I remember correctly, you can straight up remove an item and it gets deleted. If not, it goes in the dump). Cash will go to church as a donation. And if it’s enough to grant you a merit, you do in in smaller increments so that you avoid getting the merit.

Busting players is also allowed both with law job, nerve, and bail, but only low timer players. The same idea goes with donations.

You can spy on players that you plan to attack (More on attacking bellow)

Attacking

You can attack any player out there, but only leave them for chains and they must be inactive for over 100 days.

Mission targets are an exception. You can mug and hospitalize them. You can only keep twice the value of the mission reward for mugging them, so if the mission rewards you 23k but you mugged the target for 500k, you can keep 46k additional to the reward and donate the rest to Church.

You can bounty hunt anyone, but you must donate all claimed money to the Church, without aiming to achieve any merits. If you claim a 1 mil bounty, donate in small increments to not receive the merits.

Stocks

These can be used as you wish. Own whichever stock, trade with as you wish. This will most likely be your bread and butter, along with banking. You cannot sell any of the items received to players, but you can use them or sell them to the NPC vendors. Cash can be kept and used as you please, bonuses can be kept even if you cannot use (such as company boosts).

Gambling and racing

You can engage in any gamble that isn’t player vs player (This includes Poker, Lottery and Russian Roulette). This can be your bread and butter, but it can also be your demise. Play at your own risk.

Racing can take place, but only for merits. You can make custom made races and join them, but you cannot include money in these races. You can pay to upgrade your cars, but you cannot bet with other players on your races.

Donator Status

In a world where this concept comes to life, you’d be able to buy the Donator pack from the Pawn Shop for a bigger price than what you can sell it at. (if you can sell it at 23mil, you’d buy it at 26mil or maybe more).
But seeing as this is only a concept (and a work in progress) you can only get donator status by buying donator packs or being a subscriber.
You cannot sell your donator packs to the Pawn shop or to other players, as this defeats the purpose of this being a harder version of playing Torn.
Benefits coming from Subscriber Status are allowed to be used as long as it complies with the rules.

Miscellaneous

- You can marry someone, but only they benefit from your property. Dream scenario is that you’d marry someone who would go inactive, if not you can have a PI, but you cannot share vault permissions, and they must never pay for rent.
- You can only acquire points by flying for plushies yourself. You can sell the points to the pawn shop only or use them as you see fit. (buying a bazaar can be done but cannot be used)
- You can fully benefit from all events as you see fit, however Black Friday and Eliminations cannot be joined.
- You can be SSL, or use Xanax, but you must get your own supply of drugs.
- Books are allowed to be used
- Both Crime 1.0 and Crime 2.0 are allowed
- You can hold your level if you wish.
- All merits can be achieved so long as they comply to the rules of not helping or being helped.
- If you get targeted by someone, you have to endure and adapt, or simply give up.

Notes

There are many factors that I may fail to recognize and mention, but I’m more than happy to discuss, change, add and/or remove aspects of this whole concept, so expect a few edits here and there (depending on how discussed this forum becomes).

In the end this is just me toying around with the concept of being able to play Torn on two accounts, where both have no connection to one another. It would also open up being able to fulfill that desire to start from the beginning again. I highly doubt it would ever be considered by the developers, but it would be just and idea to bring more activity and fun for players who would like to experience, playing again for the first time in a much more demanding setting.

If there is another thread like this one in the forums, I did not know of it. I have been thinking of this concept for a very long time and I generally don’t interact much with the forums.

You can be anything you want in torn, but just like real life there will be only you. Pick and choice what you want to work on and eventually you will find your way to go, wether that is fully solo of engaging in the community.

Well, you'd still be able to play it online (in theory)
Only thing is, you'd get to play more torn, however you'd be disconnected from other players.
So kind of like a offline, or test. I'd call it as the title says it "Solo/Hardcore"

Seeing how others play torn without wanting to do any crimes and become legitimate citizens, it's kind of like that concept but on a different side of extremes.

Nah see if you're going to make it hardcore mode, you can't allow interaction with players that benefit someone in any way at all. The send money, attack, chain on, bounty other, bust, bail, revive, marry? lol, options wouldn't even be there. Chat, maybe. Factions wouldn't be able to develop in a true hardcore mode where you don't interact with others in any capacity. The only way for this to really work, would be to give everyone an option of a "private server" or a pod of their own, in which they are the only existing player there.

You can't have hardcore and normal people running in the same servers, because there'd be one of you level 12 and one of you level 100, that would get confusing. You can't have hardcore people all in the same server with options to interact with one another, because that's just not what hardcore is. It won't be offline as you're referring to, because we all need to be connected to torn's servers to access the game, because this isn't just some file we download and can play on airplane mode. Now imagine thousands of individual servers running concurrently with the several public ones, or even a handful more for just hardcore players, and imagine how much more strain that puts on the data, memory, and the devs themselves.

"In the end this is just me toying around with the concept of being able to play Torn on two accounts"
You'll never be able to play torn on 2 accounts, and the chances of them creating an entire alternate universe for people to play on a 2nd account is zero... This game is built around social interaction and 90% or more of the mechanics have some thing to do with others. Why read books, when the benefits of most of the books are supposed to help you get ahead of others, stronger than others, flee from others? Why train at all when the whole reason to train is to beat others and to protect your own and win wars, which you can't do in hardcore mode? This is a great concept for skilling games like runescape, open world games like fallout 76, to see if you *can* make it in the world on your own, but their worlds are built in ways where surviving solo is absolutely possible, and there are hundreds of NPCs to assist in your goals. Torn just wasn't made for that, and without stripping it of most of its mechanics, since they're built around interaction, it won't be possible. And at that point, it won't be torn.

We talked to a lot of people in this game because a lot of us like the forums and chat features, and all that kind of good happy shit. I would be willing to bet that there’s a huge portion of the player base that actually live this “hard-core“ play style. When I do recruiting through advance searching I usually see a couple thousand people not in a faction.
Cazoo [2741056]
This would slow game progression way down. Torn would be an infinitely longer game. You would definitely need way more patience. The social aspect is what has kept me in the game.

I'm a big fan of ironman/hardcore modes in other games but I don't see this working at all. There aren't enough neuron activators for this to be enjoyable.
