Hey all!

I've got a question for any leaders or hardcore experienced warmongers out there.

Important note:
I'm fully prepared for the answer to be "shut up and take the bullying" here.

However I am genuinely curious about strategies utilising self hosping, turtling, flying, mercs, outside hits or anything else.

The situation:
We've run into a cache-farming bronze faction operating under a platinum faction who has for lack of a better word attempted to bully us into taking the loss. (Messages and attacking our members before the war)

The opposing faction have 1 member with 1b stats and I am confident we can ride out the energy of 1 player to secure the win, in a straight fight. But we've been contacted by the parent faction who has said that if we don't accept terms (give them an easy and stress free win) they'll step in and batter our stronger players, while self hosping their sister faction to enable ED and prevent us scoring.

We happily accepted the terms originally as they sweetened the deal with an additional 10% of cache sales. However I've just learned that they're a bunch of liars (shocking on Torn, I know!) and in the past they've lied and not paid up to their agreements.

The question:
Might there be a strategy or war technique I could employ here to actually win this war? Short of every player flying to a different country or being permanently hosped, i can't really think of any way to even defend ourselves.

We don't have the stats, or backing to oppose the parent faction, so is the only answer here to "shut up and take the bullying"?

Based on your number of members in your faction, after 20 hits from the parent faction, a mechanic called "Early Discharge" will proc. This means that if these big bad parents keep hitting you, you will be able to get out of hospital for free (no med cooldown use)

Personally, because i think the parent faction sound like a bunch of pussies, i'd let them waste their E on you and just ride it out. They dont have infinite E.

Thanks for the comment. I mentioned ED in my above statement, so I do understand how that works. They're primarily intending (based on their messages) to hospitalise their own players, but this is among the options I'm considering... Paying a Merc to hit our own players to unlock ED (if they don't do it for us).

Thanks for the advice and not being sarcy!!

It's not difficult to find out :p

I had no intentions of publicly shaming them. Just interested in hearing from more experienced players. (I might be 'old' technically, but I haven't played torn for 10 years.

Apologies, I actually noticed after clicking post, that you knew what ED was lol.

Yes you could definitely hire mercs to do the same for you. It might result in the war not being profitable, but i'd choose that over being threatened/bullied.

My thoughts exactly. It's a pattern too. After they were acting shady with us, namely, refusing to allow us to hit the minimum target before they started battering us, I opted to message the leaders of their other wars, and it's a pattern.

Their parent fac's leader and members bully the opposing faction into taking a deal, then the bronze faction refuses to honour the deal.

Hey Oman, correct. And you're right. I can personally beat almost all of their players and I've only been playing 200days (I had 0 stats before that).

But they do have much more force than we do.

Good on you, I'd say give them the middle finger and if they want to bully you, make it as hard as possible for them. Let them waste a ton of energy and resources.

You can hire mercenaries yourselves to do the same strategy that they're doing. It may be more costly than playing ball with being extorted, but at least you get to stick it to them as well. It's a game after all, so monetary loss may be worth the satisfaction you get from standing up to bullies.
DJS [1723047]
Thanks for the comment. I don't think we'll be able to afford the same level of coverage (30 odd players) but I think you might be right here. At the very least, we'll inconvenience them which in itself is a micro win

In my experience as long as youre the better team, let them sink money into mercs for a few days. See where you are at, if winning then sucks for them and if its close then employ the same tactic. Benefit in waiting is you can see where you are at and the other team needlessly waste their energy/money.

dont forget about bounties, they are usually not good for high ranked wars but for a 13 man bronze fac they should do just fine and for 20% of the price
DJS [1723047]
Lol. I think it only takes 1 or 2 power hungry pr*cks to extort most bronze factions. And we happen to have run into said pair

To bad it starts on Thursday, if it was a Saturday start i would self hosp and ride it out so they couldnt reenlist next week.

I agree with most, just tell them it will cost them 50m or what you see fit and you need it before RW start
