I found a faction that will take low level members, I decided I would put in an application. I hit the button, I typed in some specfics about mysellf like how many times I am on during the week and what I am looking for. I hit the button to include battle stats, but the button to submit application would not work. Is there a min word count, or am I doing something wrong.

There is a maximum number of applications you can make(I believe 10) or maybe they closed the applications right as you hit the button.

Factions have the option to allow applications or not. Chances are the one you want to join has them turned off.
I had the same issue, the application message text box isn't happy with the <return> key - just put everything in there without hitting <return>!
