How exactly is weapon stealth calculated? I know torn is a game and all, not intended to be super realistic but more so fun, i just want to know how some of the weapons have their "stealth" value calculated, i know it's not a variable value unlike damage or accuracy so all weapons rw or vanilla have the same stealth value. My point is, how on earth is a type 98 stealthier than an rpg? Isn't the type 98 supposedly much bigger in terms of size compared to an rpg?[image: cdn.discordapp.com]

Same thing goes for a few weapons like comparing a tavor to an mp5k, just honestly curious how the stealth value was decided on some weapons

There was a similar forum thread few months back!
I believe stealth was discussed with the committee etc and values were allocated to certain weapons!
I guess given a range of 0-10 you will get some anomalies, especially when allocated by people who may have never held a gun let alone an RPG!

As to your RPG /Type9 anti tank question, the Type 9 has a higher range than an rpg, so you could effectively be further away!
In my eyes I cant see either of them being stealthy ever unless your opponent is deaf, blind and stupid!

well i think if the intended purpose was to stealth, maybe a dbk or a macana would simply just do the trick but my question was more so on where do these values even come from and how are they decided as such

i mean... technically you could shoot the type 98 from a whole kilometer away but you definitely cannot just ignore the absolute sound that would come from it which is why it's got low stealth lol but ty for letting me know it's more so that the committee has decided on those values and that's why some of the weapons have some odd stealth values
Ceb [68232] Committee Committee
This would have been done 7 or 8 years ago with the stealth rebuild.

I'm not sure how much could be shared but essentially the way the project went is committee members helped score each weapon in one factor of several, then those factors were weighted and a variable was applied. This gave the first iteration of weapon stealth scores which was the framework for what we have now.

No committee member said, "The anti-tank is stealthier than the RPG" but something like "An RPG and Warhead are both going to hit the top of our score for loudness" and "The anti-tank will fire at the longest range on our scale while the RPG launcher fires at the 2nd longest range on our scale" and extrapolating numbers from that sort of logic is how you get things that may not seem intuitive when compared side-by-side

Thank you for clarification!
I knew it was down to committee at some point at some level of participation but couldn't remember the details without searching for forum post from possibly months ago, and I'm trying to veer away from searching for posts to help others, when they can do the search themselves!
