Welcome to the ninth edition of JLT!

Tournaments of this type often dis-incentivize players of low racing skill from participating, since they have no practical chances of winning anything, due to the prize pools primarily benefiting the people at the very top of the rankings. For the few expert racers out there such events pose a lucrative proposition, yet for most others - they are a waste of time. The Justice League Tournament aims to remedy that.

We have joined forces with several wonderful volunteers, in order to host a competition which gives many of its participants a fair chance to not walk away empty-handed. In doing so, we strive to help turn racing into a viable TORN career path. But we alone can't hope to fund the full prize pool of such a big tournament. That is why we are accepting donations of all forms, which you can send to Jairyll [2167612], Lightor [2215463], or myself.

Furthermore, as evidenced by the event we held last Autumn - during which we awarded over $4,505,000,000 TCD in prizes - 100% of your donations will go towards the JLT prize pool. Since the competition's inception in early 2020, we have handed out approximately $36,230,000,000 TCD. And lastly, unless you wish to remain anonymous, any donation you make will be highlighted in this forum thread and in our standings sheet.

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE

 

ONE DAY BEFORE THE COMPETITION BEGINS, YOU WILL RECEIVE AN IN-GAME MESSAGE FROM YOUR DESIGNATED STEWARD WITH A LINK TO A DOCUMENT (RACEDOC), WHICH WILL CONTAIN THE DATES AND PASSWORDS FOR ALL OF YOUR QUALIFICATION RACES. BOOKMARK THIS DOCUMENT, AS YOU WILL DEPEND ON IT FOR THE ENTIRE TOURNAMENT!

• There are two main stages: a Qualification Phase (QP), and a Championship Week (CW).
  
  
• Every single race (QP & CW) will open for entry at 12:00 TCT, and begin 10 hours later - at 22:00 TCT.
  
  
• During QP, you will be placed into one of 7 leagues, depending on your class and Racing Skill (RS).
  You can learn how this system works in the LEAGUE SPECIFICATIONS chapter down below.
  
  
• Leagues with more than 80 racers, will be divided into groups. (ex. L1-A, L1-B, L1-C)
  
  
• Due to multiple unavoidable factors, all groups within the same league may not be the exact same size, but we will do our best to keep them as close to even as possible (read: ±5). Thanks to our robust tournament structure, this does not compromise anyone's competitiveness.
  
  
• During QP, you will race once a week for 7 weeks. Each race will be 50 laps long.
  
  
• During QP, LEAGUES WITH MULTIPLE GROUPS, will host 5 regular races, followed by 2 race-offs. After the 5th regular race, the people with the 5 highest point scores in each group will be pooled together into a new group, their points will be reset to 0, and they will race against each other twice. The people with the 3 highest scores after the two race-offs, will progress to the CW.
  
  
• During QP, LEAGUES WITH ONE GROUP, will host 7 regular races. After the 7th race, the points for all will be combined, and the people with the 3 highest scores in each league will progress to the CW.
  
  
• This is not an elimination-style tournament! If you miss a qualification race, you can still join the next one.
  
  
• During CW, you will race once a day for 7 days. Each race will be 20 laps long. After the 7th race, the points for all will be tallied, and the person with the highest score will be pronounced Winner of the JLT.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

• If you cross the threshold of your league's RS bracket before your first race, you will be moved to the next appropriate league. If you cross it after your first race, you will remain in the league you started in.
  
  
• If you have not reached Class A yet, but your RS is equal to or greater than 10.00, you will be registered in whichever league your RS bracket puts you. (ex. C + 11 RS = League #2, E + 21 RS = League #3, etc.)
  
  
• League #0 will only use E Class cars with NO modifications.

POINT SYSTEM

• How many points you receive in each race, depends on how many people are in your league or group. For example, If L1-B has 50 people in it, the winner of an L1-B race will always get 50 points, the 2nd - 49, the 3rd - 48, etc, no matter how many of those 50 people actually show up for the race.
  
  
• If you miss a race - you get 0 points.
  
  
• If you crash, you will be given last place, and will receive the appropriate amount of points for it.
  
  
• If there's more than one crash in the same race, the race completion percentage of each crashed racer will decide who takes the higher place.
  
  
• Your points only matter in your own league or group.
  
  
• If two or more people finish a phase with the exact same point score, we will compare their number of entered races, and total cumulative time, in that order of importance.
