Chedburn and I were discussing this earlier (which may or may not be related to other projects we're working on), and we started to wonder: who are the players that have had the most significant impact on Torn historically? We're interested in not only the currently famous or infamous players but also those who evoke a sense of nostalgia for various reasons.
We reminisced about players from different eras in Torn, recalling names both good and bad. These include figures like Evil-Duck and Quacks, Clansdancer to Leukybear, and other prominent admins. Prolific players such as Baldr, Andyman, CRLF, and Proxima are remembered for their deep understanding of Torn, their guides, and stats. We also recalled more infamous or less liked players like Kapten_Klitoris, D3vl, ItsZahid, Sharkeyfive, Youngblaze, and Marlonbrando, who are known for various reasons from bug abuse, RMT, multis, harassment or just general buffoonery.
Do you remember the "original" level holder, Someone? Body, who hosted Torn radio back in the day, managed the original dollar sales, and Torn Big Brother? Or the first dirty bomb dropper, JamilB?
Ched also brought up names like CaptainObvious, KillerCareBear, Aethwynn, and aerozol.
We're curious to hear from you. Who do you remember fondly, less fondly, or simply as notable figures from the past?
I'm a newer player, so I don't know the big names or the legends of the OG players people may name in here, but I often think about Iribuya, the "trading legend" as I was led to believe when I started Torn who just seemed to have vanished into thin air.
I think one of the most noteworthy names that first come to mind is Bodybagger. The man may no longer hold the mantle for strongest player on Torn anymore, but the name is legendary in many circles.
Maybe less notable to new players, but RGiskard is also a name that comes to mind. The name may not carry the same gravitas as BodyBagger, but he is extremely well known in the community, is generally respected by all, and is an absolute beast of a player that has been nothing but helpful when engaged with people.
BodyBagger was definitely one we were saying too! First level 100, held the #1 spot in stats for so long, and whilst there are now a few who are stronger than them I think to so many when they think of someone who had such an impressive show of strength in Torn then its BB they think of.
I'd say MeanMike has to be regarded as someone that has had the most significant impact on Torn in recent years.
Just to throw in some context for any new players that may be reading this; MeanMike was directly responsible for two of the largest world wars in Torn's history, both Insurgency & The Island War. Win or lose, I don't think any other player can attest to enabling more than one major event that saw the vast % of active players participating in them and as such changing the face of Factions, leadership, the city map etc as we see it today.
Young blaze paved the way for the scammer play-style he has always lived rent free in my head. Idk if he still does but RobinHood held the record for most offenses for a very long time and I feel like everyone recognized him for that
Young Bodybagger for sure for me as an older player.
Yes they were the first 100 and have all the stats and such but young BB was a lot different. He led the Zen/Inquest factions 15+ years ago and I would argue was the first player (that I know of) who understood how the game worked.
They were the OG Flare or Andyman and helped take the time to teach so many new players like myself. Taught me how the game worked, put me in a mansion (the best house at the time iirc) and had a pretty good idea of the now perfected training formula on gym gains.
Honor_Scholar, CockyNudist, and Jesus - I love that they decided to just play the game "their way", and make it their own.

Honor_Scholar, no attacks/drugs CockyNudist, level 100 but no stats (and even negative stats for a while!) Jesus, no levels but big stats, new players going after him in bounties was like a rite of passage.
I think a lot of the main ones have already been stated.
In recent memory some memorable characters: TiredSaladLego - their spate of DBs Bling_Bling - the dubious RMT reason and subsequent DB Dead - Furry/creep that shit a DB on PT-F during their first 100k chain
There was also this other guy like Andyman that knew so much about the game. It was insane, had loads of guides and seemed to play Torn more like a puzzle and wanted to figure out how everything worked.
In the end it was not enough and he quit writing guides and leading groups of people in giant tests to figure out things such as how exactly addiction and drugs worked.
He pulled out the ultimate cheat code became the leader of the game, head admin and community manager. All just so he could view Torns source code directly and learn the truth about ***** ****
