Hey Everyone!

Like clockwork its been about 3 months since my last crime leak and with june right around the corner (about in time for cheds 3month release plan) I figured its time to share everything we've learned about crime 12.

For Starters:

Like the title the crime is scamming, an activity that some notorious few have already partaken in, but will be new for 99% of torn. From what is avalible so far the two best guesses as for the crimes type are either cybercrime or fraud (more likely of the two). Unlike the traditional method this version of scamming will involve you targetting unsespecting people and through persuasion and decit getting them to hand over things they really shouldnt (nvm that sounds exactly like the traditional method). But im getting ahead of my self first a couple basics:

The hub image:

Currently a dead link atm, but will become live closer to release

Enhancer:

Again this is just speculation, but an erganomic keyboard would make sense with what information we have so far.

What does the crime involve:

This crime is seemingly going to be one of the most advanced one yet, taking scamming methods from the real world and having you preform them in game. The first of these methods is the prize scam: Which will be split into three steps Email Farming, Send emails for Prize Scam and running the scam.

Email Farming:

This process would be the first one you have to do as without any emails you wouldnt have anyone to scam. This is also confirmed by the code:

The two methods of collection will be phising and scraping (with emails also having the possibility to become inactive). After collecting emails you then move on to phase 2

Sending the scam emails:

This is most likely a passive/partly time gated process. Where you need to send the emails and wait for targets to reply. As in real life a lot of people dont reply to scam emails so at lower crimes skills it may be difficult to collect targets at first. However as you get better id imagine so does your success rate with targets.

Running the scam:

This is seemingly the most complex part. Unlike other crimes which are mostly choose one or two options and your good to go, in scamming you will activly need to play with people emotions to get them to fall for the scam. Each target will have an active perssuasion state that they start with:

and through your own actions and choices you will win over or lose the target. To do this you have a series of action to choose from:

(top is list of perssuasion states, bottom is actions you can take)

Lastly you may also actually get emails sent to you that you need to read and base your decisions off of:

(and yes there should be unique outcomes with this crime as seen above)

What about the other scamming methods?

Sadly so far only the prize scam has been implemented:

Along with this its still using forgery images as placeholders:

So what does this mean for a release date?

Personally I wouldnt expect this crime too soon which might actually be a benefit. So far only 1416 have made it to forgery level 100. In comparison 7396 have finished cracking and 8252 in disposal. This still gives a lot of people ample opportunity to keep grinding forgery and not need to worry about rushing anything.

Will there be any required items?

As far as I can tell aside from perhaps a personal computer, I dont believe there will be any items.

Conclusion:

That's about it from me. If I find anything new ill try my best to update this page. Personally I am also excited to be getting a new crime, always fun to get a new mechanic added to the game. From what I can tell this crime will also be the most costly of any crime nerve wise, potentially taking the #1 spot for most nerve to complete. Additionally a lot of this is still speculation and me trying to piece together things I dont full know, so there may be errors in this post

it just might be back with this crime. can't count on one hand the number of times I've seen s sad elderly couple on the news crying on a couch saying stuff like "arson won't talk to us any more after we gave his college fund to a nigerian prince who offered to 10x it"
