I have had heard even with 1 single hit made on the ranked war we get small arm cache. We made around 22% of the hits and we got nothing. Maybe something changed?

Too much frustration!!!

If anyone interested owning my faction, I'll be transferring leadership and gonna say bye bye to torn.

I had the exact same link as Qfiffle ready to paste in here, but she beat me to it.

I don't know who or when you got that piece of advice, but they majorly changed the meta for Ranked Wars about 3 months ago such that if you thought you could start up a functional cache farm at the snap of a finger? You're wasting your time.

Not sure what sort of interest you'll generate for your faction either. At just 5.2k, it's only marginally above the respect level for a faction someone could start themselves.

Oh no your cache income..

In all seriousness, you're also unranked so rewards are gonna be a lot lower than in other ranks.

Zpy [3267112]

In that case, torn should have a feature to match OP fairly. If no fair match, then don't enter into RW.

IreatVoss [2804165]

Your faction got almost zero battlestats. Join a real faction and train your stats then RW

Lightor [2215463] Officer Officer

The system matches by rank mainly, both of you were unranked with similar member counts (your 14 v their 10). That is as fair as it gets.

Odin-All-Father [2010524]

But stats aren’t the deciding factor in a RW.

if you knew how to RW you wouldn’t suggest that and if you don’t know how to RW then you shouldn’t be suggesting anything.

How do you think we're bad at participation with op which has 3 really very strong stat people and we get nothing warring on this.

Nilfgaardczyk [2406770]

Theres no easy way to make you rich super fast, dont look for shortcuts and dont complain when they dont work. Go sell some losses for Nebula, you'll make more money per 25e than with RW.

Zpy [3267112]

Also, why should OP get caches? I see many fac considers deal, in that case, torn should give them nothing. Anyways, there are sorts of things torn could have considered but all in all this is bad and frustrating when participation on war and gets nothing.

fwiw even before the changes to RW and the participation modifier, unranked was not guaranteed cache rewards on a loss. That was the advantage bronze had over unranked. Now of course, anyone can receive nothing with little enough participation.

Also your faction accounts for just slightly over 16% of the hits, not 22%.

I don't know exactly the cutoff for an unranked faction to receive rewards in a loss, but to my understanding, a safe bet in bronze at least is to aim for 40% of the lead difference needed to win at minimum. A win required 1654 point difference here, so 661 would have been a reasonable minimum to push for.

Faction doesn't even have a banner image, bro...

If that is how little you think of your faction, why would anyone else care about it?

A failure to understand the mechanics of the game is not the game's fault.

Cheds previous posts on RW Matchups:

That's right, there is no real 'matchmaking' involved. This is Ranked Warring, where your faction fights other factions based on rank alone to determine where your faction places. Just like any ranked system, unfair matchups will be common, and fully intended. Assuming both factions are similarly sized, no other factors matter - if your faction's rank is close to their faction's rank, you'll be warring them at some point, even if they're actually ten times stronger.

If we were going to change the system to match factions based on stats and activity e.t.c, the rankings wouldn't work. They'd effectively just be casual exhibition matches with no possible competition or leaderboards involved.

However, time and time again, we run into so many situations on Torn where there is clearly a miss pairing between two factions.

Just like any ranked system, we're not trying to pair you with another faction that's closely matched to your faction, we're simply matching you with a faction of a similar rank. It's pretty much as simple as that. With a limited pool of factions and matchups only occurring weekly, this will always be a problem. But I stress once again, this is how ranked systems work.

You can find Ched's post on that here:

Matchups are determined by faction ranks. That's how ranked ladders work. Winning moves you up the ladder, losing moves you down the ladder.

If we want actual matchmaking - attempting to match factions only ever against very similar factions, we'd have to lose the ranked ladder as there would be no way to rank anybody, because we'd only ever know how factions deal with their very similar counterparts. It'd no longer be called "Ranked warring" as no ranks would be involved.

There is no 'intelligent' matchmaking, such a system is incompatible with a ranked ladder. You get matched with a faction close to your rank, and that's it.

We're not trying to match factions in terms of their capability, we're matching them by their division, so that their rank & division end up representing their capability.

Put very simply, if your faction is within +1/-1 division range of another faction, you can be matched with them, even if they're a million times stronger. That is by design, because that is how ladder systems work.
