YEAR_ZERO / Cirice / Miss_Murder sad news

There is no easy way to say this. I have been told that YEAR_ZERO, formerly known as Cirice and even before that as Miss_Murder, passed away suddenly Sunday morning. This information comes from someone that knew YZ in real life, and they came together from another game, Hattrick.

I first met YZ when she was still known as Miss_Murder and was recruited to Relentless. We looked up to her back then as a stat monster (compared to us), and she always ranked in the top of our war hit counts. She spent time as a leader at R, and settled into a more comfortable role on our committee. In Monarch, she selflessly picked up grunt work that nobody else wanted to do and never, ever complained. In both iterations of our humble faction family, she also wrote up our chronicles, with boundless enthusiasm and creativity. She is a cornerstone upon which we have built this faction empire we enjoy today. 

When the news was broken to me, I was hoping it was the wrong person, because I learned she is, in fact, Mike, and was role-playing as his wife. Given this is an RPG, it changes nothing, and YZ will still be the person who chatted with me in Spanish when I was practicing, and who taught me useful phrases such as "me cago en la leche de tu puta madre." While YZ's stat growth plans that we discussed many times for many hours may no longer matter, the hours we shared themselves are what matter the most.

Nar_Cos, who let me know of all this, put it this way:

Mike was an absolute gem of a guy. Always full of a smile but never one to suffer fools so was no nonsense when it came to it. Someone you knew you would have your back and could trust......apart from Torn gender apparently...lol but then again thats like him having the last laugh really. Almost typical of him in some ways and I can almost hear him having a chuckle about this now xD

Anyone who has poured their time into struggling and striving for pixel stats and tiny wins learns quickly that losing friends puts our petty squabbles into perspective. We can only hope that we have a good time playing in the limited hours we are allotted.

Rest in peace, Year_Zero. We may not have always seen eye to eye, but I'm grateful we managed to put our differences aside well before your passing. I enjoyed working with you and getting to know you. I only wish we had more time to continue building our friendship.

YZ was very special to me. Since day one of entering into M, she was very welcoming & provided guidance on how things ran around MHQ. As I stepped into a leadership role, she immediately assisted in my transition and helped me navigate through how MHQ operated in the back end. I relied on her to help with the day to day, and got to know her over the years. She dedicated a ton of time towards our chronicles, towards our operations, and to providing insight into stuff going around the faction day to day. She was not only an M foundational member, but an R* foundational member as well. Most importantly, she was mine and many others trusted friend. Many respect her around the game, and many will mourn for her loss. YZ will forever be in our hearts. 

Here’s to you, YZ. May you rest in peace.

It is such a hard message to write knowing that just a few days ago we were having a laugh that somehow Monarch HQ hadn’t turned inside out and collapsed in his absence. 

For those that knew YZ, you’ll know just how loved they were here, but it makes me sad knowing that the rest of Torn never got to understand how much YZ meant to the Monarch family until now. 
Week in and week out, for almost all of his time here, PA payouts, ranked war payouts and OCs were never missed. Banking requests fulfilled in an instant. Whatever leadership duty that someone else didn’t have the time or energy to dedicate towards, YZ selflessly volunteered for. Amongst us all, particularly Champ, Uncle and I the running joke was that YZ did more for the faction than us all combined. It is pretty funny, but true.  

But wasn’t just what YZ did for us, it was who they were as a person that we will miss most. From the times spent talking passionately about her husband’s (his own) whiskey collection and dogs, it’ll be the way that YZ loved his family - both Torn and real life that we will remember them best by.  

Thanks for everything, my friend. We’re going to miss you so so dearly.

Condolences

Damn, this is really sad to hear.

Even though Year Zero and I did not always see eye to eye, her impact on our faction cannot be overstated. Her contributions to the success of Relentless and subsequently Monarch were immense. She was a key figure who worked tirelessly to help our faction thrive, always putting the faction first.

It’s rare to find players who have the dedication and loyalty of Year Zero. Year Zero was here in Monarch, and Relentless through the highs and the lows, always showing an incredible commitment and loyalty. Her hard work, determination, and passion were crucial to the factions success and where it is today. She played a significant role in shaping the community and helping the faction achieve its goals.

One last thing I wanted to touch on, even though she was in a Monarch sub at the time of her passing, I hope that Year Zero can be returned to Monarch HQ, the faction where she dedicated so much of her time and effort. Her contributions were integral to the factions‘ success, and anyone who knew Year_Zero knows that she is Relentless and now Monarch, through and through.

An Argentinian sister gone, a really sad day indeed.

Year_Zero was an amazing person and I loved our conversations we shared during our time together in HQ. I always tried to pay it forward to them and they would never let me have it. They said that they were just doing their part to make monarch the best they could and I aim to keep that tradition going.

Had short but impactful conversations with YZ and was looking forward to picking their brain as the information was intense and invaluable.

It's been hard to put my emotions into words since I've never had to deal with the passing of someone I knew or interacted with online before. I understand how integral YEAR_ZERO has been to the success Monarch and R have seen, and I wish I was around long enough to learn from them and their knowledge.

My prayers are with their family.

I didn't know them as well as most but every time we did speak was always a pleasure, rest in peace.
