I think when changing V1 endpoints it should be assumed that everything is in use and that suddently changing it will break something, somewhere, for more than one person.
Why couldn't a new selection for this data have been added instead of swapping the existing one for example
Hello,
Due to concerns of unfair advantages being gained through mug scripts as well as complaints from players worried about their API keys being linked (please note that this is an unfounded complaint, but was worth addressing), we have added a global 30-second cache to the 'user' -> 'bazaar' section in API v1.
This change applies to all requests, regardless of which query parameters are sent or which API keys are used.
We hope this change will provide better experience and enhanced gameplay for everyone.
For those who might attempt to bypass this change by scraping data, please ensure you do not violate the rules, especially those regarding page scraping:

Thanks.
Lol, legend. Splent getting shit done
Great change.
f**k bots & f**k scripts, they don’t make players good, they make players lazy.
work for your mug money, don’t rely on a quick link from a bot.
Start making other things less reliant on outside usage too pls.
doesn't this just mean the seller gets a 30 second grace period? i.e. if the bot sends a ping, and ppl see you're idle >30 seconds and not in hosp, it's still the same thing right?
How does this help the buy mugger who isn't using a script splent? 30 second grace period, so then all the scripters just line up to hit a target 30 seconds later, that was fairly buy mugged? And the buy mugger has to compete with scripters to get the first and best mug?
How does this help? The scripters could never get to the buy mug victim before I did, so now you're giving them time to get there? Am I not understanding this?
If scripter are following bazaar or item market (overall), it doesn't change anything. If scripters are following single seller bazaar, you are getting extra 30 sec to buymug them before scripters will know.
it doesn't, it just delay responses from the API, or better if you use the bazaar API you see information that are 30 seconds old.
it basically delay bots by 30 seconds, it's not a grace period, if someone is looking directly at the market or your bazaar this doesn't change anything
This applies to scripts and bots only, not buying something and mugging manually.
So a bot will be 30 seconds behind, where as you won't if you buy and mug within 2 seconds.
Hi,
I would like to read the crimes of a player with the v2 of API.
I first tried with my information:
https://api.torn.com/v2/user/?selections=crimes&key=MYAPIKEY&id=1971836
But I get the error {"error":{"code":6,"error":"Incorrect ID"}}
then I would like to change the id with the one of another player to obtain his crimes done like the v1 of API does.
I'm afraid that I understood that the version 2 of Torn API will not be able to read the crimes of other players, thus making my algorithms that guess their battle stats useless (and for that reason I could really quit Torn).
Thanks in advance for the response.
EDIT:
GET /user/?selections=crimes Get user's crime statistics
Return the details and statistics about a user's specific crime.
I just realized that id is the Crime id and I don't want to make many API calls to get only "my" crime information.
Also you are scaring my because I don't see "playerId" among the parameters of that service: to be honest I don't need more deep information about my own crimes if you hide totally the other players crime basic information.
Thanks man. The problem is, THE ALERT ITSELF. Why alert players to bazaar sales at all? How is that legal?
I don't want scripters knowing about any bazaar sales. It's crap. 30 second delay is a crap fix. Why should players be alerted to bazaar sales? Camp the bazaar sale you like out like the rest of us. Do some homework on the victim and play the game the right way. Stupid scripts. Lazy bastards. Can't put in the work, play another game. Lots of other games out there.
People are lazy. I wont lie, I used a bot for a while and I drooled at the thought of getting those juicy buy mugs I never dreamed I'd ever have and rubbed my hands together at the hundreds of billions I was about to make because the bot did all the heavy lifting for me.
I get the appeal, I had several QOL mugging scripts that made my life easier (not the point of getting notified, just little titbits here and there) and I'm fine with QOL stuff. I know muggers who have mugged 10s of billions playing vanilla on a mobile phone, which honestly is insanity, and I also know muggers who have mugged tens of billions using scripts and bots.
However, bots need to die because, as I, you and many have already said, it sucks the f**king life out of the game and makes mugging less fun and more difficult than it already is.
When I mugged I had (I'm not joking...) 150m dex, 50m def, 2m spd and 1m str and I managed to mug 9b over the course of a year (not impressive, I know) but once these bots and scripts started becoming public, it made me stop (thank God, now my stats are actually decent) because I just couldn't compete and it became frustrating as hell.
Pretty impressive to me! I wanted to mug 10 billion this year. Now I won't reach that goal, lol My mug income is affected hahaha
Because when some inactive player or player who hasn't logged into his account in a day or two but has some item priced too damn high but I'm willing to invest my money and time buying that inflated item. Now all these lazy players will sit on the victim knowing there's more money there. But I need to get more money out of that scrub to make my buy mug worth it. And it's happening with small buy mugs now too.
I mean it happens normally in the wild because some muggers out there have skill and will notice some bazaar sales that normal players wouldn't notice. But now if I buy mug some sucker who hasn't logged in in two days and I pay too much for the item, everyone gets an ALERT.
My enemy list is about 1,000 players long so I watch a lot of bazaars and I can do what the script does naturally. That's the way it should be! I don't need a freaking bot to play the game for me. Why even play the game at all if you can't play the game? Fly for profit or whatever, they should leave mugging alone.
Mugging is fun! That's why players do it, sure the money too but staking out your victim and getting that money is a rush. When a plan comes together it just feels good. The scripts are ruining it.
And the delay is some sort of fix? What dream world do you live in, Splent?
I'm not even sure what you're on about. If you never rely on the API to find your buy mugs like you claim, this doesn't affect you at all. In fact, it helps you, because it slows down all of those that do rely on the API to find buy mugs.
I mean it happens normally in the wild because some muggers out there have skill and will notice some bazaar sales that normal players wouldn't notice. But now if I buy mug some sucker who hasn't logged in in two days and I pay too much for the item, everyone gets an ALERT.
This was already happening and is exactly what this change is aimed at slowing down. They'll still get the alert, but it'll be 30 seconds later, giving you a full 30 seconds head start?
Guy is lagging, give him 30 seconds
Helps me? I don't need this kind of help to be honest.
Before this script came out, nothing was wrong. Everyone was happily mugging each other's bazaars. Now there IS something wrong. With this script.
Why are they getting an alert? Why should the game allow that? You're in your garage messing around with your car and some bot tells you something sold from someone's bazaar? And tells you when to attack? You're not even playing the game! WTF
Other games wouldn't allow that to happen or at least try to stop it.
I don't want you knowing what I am buying from whoever. Not from a bot anyway. That's my whole point. The alert is the issue, not the time frame when you get there. This should be stopped at the source.
This fix is to help the guy selling the item. But there is another side to this, the mugger. Which is the part of the game.
As someone who's made a program and utilized the API for bazaar buy mugging this change is fine.
Honestly before I made it I had reached out to a mod to ensure it wasn't against TOS as an unfair advantage. The way it is now with a global cache ( instead of being able to rotate API keys/calls to get an un-cache'd response ) is fine. It just now slightly RNG.
Somebody could buy something 1-5 seconds before you get a fresh response depending on where the purchase and cache reset fall.
Why are they getting an alert? Why should the game allow that?
To this extent you're asking for them to remove bazaar API calls.
The why/how of it is very simple. known total price of all listed items on bazaar - new total price of all listed items on bazaar = purchase made from their bazaar of that difference.
simple logic to trigger an alert that tells you "someone bought something totaling this value, you can potentially mug X% of that"
Yes, remove bazaar API calls altogether.
To me it's the simple answer to a nagging problem. To some people it's not a problem, the script is treating them great, of course. But to others the script is cheating. Blatant cheating.
