AI continues to shake up the world and is having a massive impact on art production and artists. The AI models are improving quickly, and soon AI generated graphics will perfectly represent prompts.

In this world, how does the role of the artist shift? Where can artists continue to add value or create entirely new value? 

I'm genuinely curious. AI is many things, and it's here to stay. Let's keep this thread on AI. If someone expresses an opinion about AI that you disagree with, add your own opinion, but please don't bash the commenter. 

The truth is that we don't know how things will unfold. And having discussions like this is useful. It can help us see ideas we've overlooked. Or help us get past ideas we're holding onto. And ultimately, it helps us better prepare for the future. And who knows, maybe even contribute to shaping the future.

I love art. Im in awe of human produced art. I'm an aspiring artist. I create my own art. I thoroughly enjoy the process and challenges.

I think artists and consumers of art need to talk about AI. Cause it's had a profound impact. And I want to be exposed to as many perspectives as possible so I can have a fuller understanding of AIs impact on art and the future role of the artist 

The topic has already been discussed in depth countless times and it's always the same babbling back and forth. You're certainly not going to get any intellectual debate from anyone who uses AI and the sentiment of the actual artists and designers can be found just by reading/searching through the forum.

Shoot KingABz a message, I heard he LOVES anything to do with AI art 🗣️

I did a quick search and found a few useful comments scattered on other threads. But those comments were isolated and didn't amount to a discussion.

Look, this is Torn, an RPG. I'm happy to keep these discussions exclusively in my art circles IRL, and on active art forums on the net if the art community here doesn't see the value.

I personally can't be bothered to do that research for you, sorry.

If people want to discuss a topic that's been ran into the dirt already, by all means. I'm just saying I don't think anyone is going to be interested entertaining it for the ten thousandth time other than maybe people trying to justify their lack of abilities and use of AI generated content for profit.

Or people trying to karma farm, which is all I've seen on the forums lately. "Oh, I saw a thread that had 236 likes, so I'll attempt to start a better discussion about the exact same thing and my karma will surely prosper." - The creator of the 546th points value thread

Alright, I'll keep piecing together scattered comments across hundreds of threads. 

I think your interpretation for why this thread exists isn't aligned with my intentions of creating this thread. I'll quickly give my opinion on your comment. I agree. I personally don't like quick turn around AI graphics generated by people without art skill, who then sell the art.

But thats not the point of this thread. Perhaps some will justify their use of AI in this thread. And if they do, that's ok, I won't get value from that.

What am I looking for?

A discussion about the evolving role of the artist who needs to confront AI and consumers of art who might use AI. 

It's because I want to see the human connection to art production preserved that I ask such questions. It's because I genuinely love creating art, and I hope to continue to create art for people in the future. So I open myself up to this discussion, so I can learn and grow.

And why discuss it on a Torn forum? Because I enjoy the game. I spend a lot of time on the game. I've created hand drawn art for people on Torn. I hope to continue. So I'm looking for the opinions of my peers, and other art consumers. What is it about human art that players on Torn will keep commissioning? I'm genuinely interested as someone who creates art for the community. 

This has nothing to do with Karma farming. Please read my response to shooby above. If you have another issue with this thread, happy to hear it. But nope, no karma farming here.

I create hand drawn art for this community. I'd like to continue to create hand drawn art for this community going into the future. I also respect fellow artists here on Torn. 

AI is complex, and impacts the artists and art consumers on this platform. I'd hope that's reason enough to want to discuss it, not avoid it. 

But I respect your decision to not engage. I just don't agree with some of what you've said.

Sorry I have a very hard time telling when poeple are being honestly curious or just attention seeking.

If you truly have the soul of an artist : don't even bother with Ai and all the shitstorm it's bringing.
I'm not saying don't give a shit, curiosity is cool; just don't let it influence your art.
It been said in many different ways and places already (hence the "omg not that talk again") : use Ai, don't let Ai use you. (it simply means it's okay to use it as a tool, since it is what it is)
