I actually do want to see anonymous mails removed and replaced with something else, the main roadblock to this is a lack of suitable ideas for an alternative (if people want to suggest those then by all means please do and if any are decent I'd be happy to push for that).

However, this is simply a bug and will be fixed today. The new improved text editor was merged with mails and the anonymous communications button was lost temporarily as a result.

Anonymous messages is an interesting feature that is useful in certain situations. New features for getting the computer science education completed are welcome, but I don't think it's necessary to remove the anonymous messages in order to implement it.

What kind of thing do you envisage? Something that is still anonymous?

why do you want to get rid of them?

Its a bummer . Don't replace it please .I mean what could you possible replace it with that players wouldn't feel f**ked over again ? Some people did half year education just to be able to do that .

anonymous messaging / cash is useless and frankly abused too often, really wish there was better options

just a random thought what about like a skill game with anon mails you can work towards deciphering the anon mails origin  so anon mails are still there but with a risk of the receiver working towards deciphering the mail prob need both skill and rng elements too it i suppose im bad at ideas xd

If you can see who sent it through a process, may as well just remove and replace with something more useful tbh.

Would be interesting to see how interactions would go if people couldn't talk s**t anon tho.

How about introducing a public notice board page where players can share their grievances for everyone in Torn to read and gossip about? This could be a new section in the Torn Times labeled 'Personals'. To post a message, a fee would be required (charged per character), with an additional fee for anonymous messages. We could also limit the number of posts each player can make, and ensure that all posts expire after 72 hours and like ads would require approval before its printed.

its literally just a way to harass people without consequence. If they're going to keep the feature, they simply need to add a way to reveal anonymous messages/cash sends so you can ignore list players you don't want harassing you on a daily basis.

It's not without consequence though, is it. Go too far and staff WILL still get you.

If anon mails, or mails at all hurt your fee-fees, TORN is not the game for you, and I know you can throw your weight, Shoobs.
