Ched tells us not to worry about points and that they have something planed….
The question is should Ched have waited before removing the pawn shop sale until this “idea” was ready and released them together to stop the damage he’s caused?

Everything's been dropping. Points, Xanax, Plushies, etc, It's by design obviously. The equitable ladders dropping as far as I'm concerned. Go Ched.
It's likely preparation for new crimes to not hurt the economy when they flood it with a bit more product.
Prescriptions for Xanax? Mini-Drug packs?
Counterfeit Tokens? Why not counterfeit Points too?
Grand Theft Auto - wouldn't mind racing some cops with my hot new ride of a Sturmfahrt LOL
Get mad we don't have a new crime and that it's probably gonna be scamming. Smh.
I don’t know his message read more along the lines of, points have dropped in value, we didn’t expect this but are thinking of fixes don’t be worried.
I can believe LT Wolf expected a drop but just can’t believe any of them expected a drop so hard and so sustained
Would be happy to see reports from the economist which shows otherwise
Sounds like ranked warring rewards are about to be hit. Mark my words.
Don’t worry, you can still buy DP’s and safely sell them to the pawn shop
Soon. ™️
Well if nothing else the hope the announcement gave people is driving a bit of an uptick in point sales and price of points. If we know anything about Torn though, its that changes often take a long time, and no dates have been thrown out there by Ched yet so it could still be months before the new sink is installed. Not sure that its wise to speculate and buy in just yet...
I can only assume they thought the fix would be ready sooner, because I just can't see how they wouldn't have seen this coming when they know how many points come in and go out of the game.
I don't think there's any question to to be posed at all, really: the answer is unequivocally "yes," they should have held off on nuking the economy until they had their "ideas" fleshed out and ready to go.
Also seems worth noting that while the next patch list is August 20th, "those of you concerned about the value of points" will have to wait until whenever "soon" is to hear the master plan, but I'm personally pessimistic about anything coming during the month of August. This little blurb did nothing to put any of my concerns to rest.
Finally, addressing the oversupply of points sounds great moving forward, but unless the "plan" has some sort of immediate (and relatively large) sink? It'll likely be months before the oversupply that has already been dumped into the market is naturally used up, which would mean even more of a time lag before any price-response, but I suppose that's putting the cart before the horse a bit.
Cough cough. Just gonna drop this here.... Mega-alliances.... Racket monopolies.... $800,000,000 per day V V ($292 billion per year)
Just 1 fac shells income! I'd love to see some of that tap sprayed about a bit more.

I am sitting here, patiently waiting for Ched to make the Token Shop stuff buyable with points.
Chedburn, The EDGING KING!!! Is giving me digital blue balls.
There's alot of different ways to burn the currency "money and/or points". I think this is the appropriate time to bring back the unique auction. Would burn alot of money and help with the value of Torns economy.
Points + Bunker bucks to upgrade quality of RW gear?
RW perk value reroll so we can chase coveted god rolls?
Extra refills that cost more each per day
Points exchange for old merits that no longer exist via events?
Points fee for chats 2.0 to work as expected for 20 minutes ?
"For those of you concerned by the value of points, please rest assured we're working on plans and will have an update soon. We're confident in a solution that everyone will be comfortable with, which will address the oversupply of points without producing trillions of dollars per year as the pawn shop did."
Addressing the oversupply of points suggests to me that there will be a reduction in point production, rather than an increase in ways to use points (point sinks). This is supported by the next phrase - "without producing trillions of dollars per year". This suggests that they are not going to try to increase the value of points without first reducing the supply of points, so if we have seen a 33% reduction in the price of points, the way to fix that (going by what Ched has said) is probably to reduce the supply of points by at least 33%, possibly even more.
Reading this, I am not expecting to see any new point sinks and perhaps instead, we will see removal of points from Ranked War payouts and possibly even from donator packs (although, any change to donator packs might have a negative impact on real income, so that's probably not going to happen).
Where else can they reduce the oversupply of points? The museum is the main producer of points, would they reduce the payout for sets?
In my humble opinion, the impact of reducing the supply of points will continue to have a cooling effect on the game economy.
Is that the goal? If this is the goal, this will impact new to mid-game players far more than late game players.
The developers will need to address this pretty quickly or there might be a sharp reduction in player activity and retention. There will need to be new ways to make money in the game that offer newer players steady and reliable (and repeatable) ways to meet their expenses and increase their savings, so that they can advance and grow their incomes over time.
(In much the same way as importing and selling flowers and plushies used to do.)
Obviously, they have a plan, but they are only releasing a little information at a time.
Cold take: two people can be right at the same time.
Points were overvalued. Artificially propping up the price was bad for Torn's economy.
As we prepare future influxes of items/points into the economy via Crimes 2.0 and OCs 2.0, it seems reasonable to reduce the supply of points to boost the price a little.
He will fix it like he fixed stocks...... boooooo
Quick everyone buy points! (price will now jump because of speculation)
