You don't have to play 15-20 hours a day but you probably need to play more than you currently do lol We have plenty of very successful members who I would consider very active who are online maybe 2-3 hours …
Play the game how you want, not minmaxing like everyone else or you'll burn out very quickly
Join a company as well
And look at the guide forums for... Well, guides
Torn is a long term game; some players have been playing for almost 20 years. Getting stronger takes time.
Baldr has a good guide for new players here: https://www.torn.com/forums.php#/p=threads&f=61&t=16034448&b=0&a=0
Mentions: Baldr's Basic Advice
You can train as fast as most anyone logging on for 5 minutes a day, 3 times a day.
Wake up, train, do some crimes, Xan, train...set a timer for your drug CD amount.
Timer goes off, train, do some crimes, Xan, train...set a timer for your drug CD amount.
Trimer goes off, train, do some crimes, Xan, train...go to bed.
anything more than that is just for fun.
Moved to Q&A
Getting a subscription, or donator status from a donator pack helps alot in the long run.
You don’t need to play multiple hours a day, every day to hit 15. Most newbie-friendly factions would help you hit that goal before your 2-week grace period of safety is up (usually by helping you with Baldr’s list targets, personal faction-found targets to level off of, supplying free Xanax for training/attacking until you hit a certain NW or level, etc.).
You pop online, hit your 4 targets (6, if you become a donator), pop a Xanax and hit 10 more (shouldn’t take you more than 10-20 minutes using Baldr’s lists), then you’re free to be offline for the next 7-8 hours of the day (unless you’re doing crimes).
Even without donator status to get that extra E, you can hit 15 by using the Baldr’s leveling lists, though it would roughly double the time taken (at most). And once you hit level 15 to unlock traveling? You sit there at 15 and focus on gym training to boost your stats (happy jumps or choco jumps). If your faction wars or does regular chaining, you’ll still level up during those times between your stat training.
Regardless, it’s not bad or anything if it’s taking you time to build your stats and leveling. Overall, everyone’s pace on the game is different. There will be people “younger” than you in game with more stats and higher levels because of how they spent their energy, just as there will be “older” players with less stats and level than you for the same reason - they spent their energy differently.
It’s best to find where your groove is, personally, and where/when you spend your own energy to set your own pace on the game to fit how you’ll enjoy playing it.
It’s over said but torn really is a marathon, not a sprint.
You’ll always have players both stronger and weaker than you but with that said, if you get into a routine of regularly training then it’s amazing how fast you’ll surpass so many people.
Consistency is the key.

Most people way overestimate their online time. I see people posting in looking for a faction that they are online 5-6 hours a day and then you check their stats and it's 30 minutes or so. You are probably also overestimating the online time of others you see who are getting ahead of you.
PS I just ran a script to look at your faction and the most active newer player there (ID 3m+) averaged about 4 hours a day during your war, and I'd imagine less outside of that. The average player in your faction averaged 37 mins a day. You could easily be one of the most active without even really trying.
You're 69 days old and you've been logged in, not necessarily playing, a grand total of 4h 31m 35s...
The problem has nothing to do with other people constantly being online, the problem is that you are offline more or less all day most days. Meaning you probably login once or twice a day, do gym, crimes, and log out.
You aren't even playing the game. That's why everyone is passing you. I spend more time online in single ranked wars than you've spent online in over 2 months lol.
I mean this in the nicest way, but you're very inactive and inefficient in how you're playing. If you're having fun then keep going how you are, it's just a game after all, but you shouldn't be surprised that a lot of players are surpassing you with their progress.
- You don't have donator status, so you'll have less energy to train than those that do.
- You're living in a beach house, so your training will be much less efficient.
- You're not using any consumable, making your training even less efficient.
- You're making ~1.5 attacks per day, slowing down your levelling and NW growth by not being able to fly.
- You haven't made any war hits, so you're not going to be paid that much from RW prizes.
- You're not buying 100 items a day, losing at least $50k in income.
- You're doing about 8 crimes a day, slowing your crime experience.
- You're not really using your booster, medical, or drug cool down.
A lot of these could easily be fixed or completed with 10-20 minutes of game play per day except maybe the rank war hits. I'd suggest increasing your training efficiency and then attacking levelling targets until you're level 15 and able to fly.
