I started this thing 2 days ago, just because it looked very interesting. I've tried many things, for example the gym, gambling, applying for a job, crimes (mostly pick pockets and searching for cash) but now released that won't really give me much money, plus I have to wait quite sometime to gain my nerve back, and very often, after I've pick pocketed few people I just quit when I ran out of nerve, until hours later come back and repeat this again. And to be honest, it kinda sucks, and I'm pretty sure there has to be a better way to do thing in my position, yet I just don't know them. I would really appreciate if someone who has a bit more experience would like to help me, or just give me tip/tips what could I do better. Thanks.
New player here, need help getting started.

Nope. You got it. That's it.
Welcome to Torn.
Maybe read a guide?
Hello, welcome to torn!
Torn is a marathon. You can't have full energy and nerve all the time sadly. But you can take xanax for +250e and drink bottles of beer for extra nerve!
As you level up, you will unlock different games at casino, including poker, if that is something youre into. I would highly recommend joining a faction as they will help you figure out a lot of things and make your experience way better in torn (they have extra nerve perks too).
Read this guide!

Well first you need to get started on the new player missions if you haven't already. They cover the absolute basics to get you on your feet, and have some pretty sweet rewards for completing them. (1050 Energy, 125 Nerve, $7000, and 25 Mission Credits)
Then read a good guide. You could be making millions dollars daily within a couple of weeks with the right information from the start. We have a Tutorials and Guides section for you to browse. Or Ahab's Tutorial List found here:

Absolutely Check out Baldr's Basic Advice for one of the first guides you read. It's long, but very comprehensive and considered one of the best guides for new players ever compiled:
https://www.torn.com/forums.php#/p=threads&f=61&t=16034448&b=0&a=0
Next you need to join a good faction to help guide you and mentor you in the rest of the game mechanics.
Check the Faction Recruitment Forums:
https://www.torn.com/forums.php#/p=forums&f=24&b=0&a=0
Don't join any faction with less than 500,000 respect. There's almost 350 factions with 1,000,000 respect or more that would love to mentor a new player such as yourself. Message the leader(s) of any faction before joining and ask what they expect of a new member. "Shop around", and don't just join the first faction that invites you to join. Find that perfect fit.
And always remember that TORN is a marathon, not a sprint. You can play it hardcore, casual, off and on, however you like it to be. And it's built to last for years to come.

When do I get other missions when I’ve finished Georges?
For quick cash.
Buy beer from Bits and Bobs and sell on the market place.
You can buy 100 a day. When i started i was selling them between 500-600 each depending on thr current price at the time i was listing them.
Torns a long game.
I think you get Duke missions at level 5 i believe.
Also, read a guide called Baldr's guide, its is very very imformative.
Ill send you a lil something something to get you going
Torn is a resource management game which makes it a time management tactics game. With a crime and drug theme. Most of the fun i think comes from making your own plan and watching it develop.
And yeah what they said...it's a text game so the more you read the more you can do. A lot of the guides are really good. Lots of experienced vets to learn from too.
You'll unlock Anonymous at level 5 who will introduce you to Duke.
