We are all very aware of the point situation right now and volatility of uncertainty. 1 thing can be for certain, inflation has hit Torn city. Is increasing the number of points needed, going to decrease the value of points? How does one decide between increased cost vs decreased production? From what I gather, we citizens hold more points then the economy can handle. To me a simple solution could be to cut back on the points rewards via rw. I'm no economist hence the "simple solution".

How will we turn out after all this? Maybe you wish not to share but with many in despair, what are our options? With more income networks drying up and less rewards for routine efforts, what will keep the citizens of Torn city wealthy?

We are not here to discuss points specifically but to address the underlying issues of economic Imbalance and how to resolve them.

If you wish to complain and whine, there's other forums for you. This forum is meant to discuss and share ideas, debate if you may.

I think points will drop again but will rebound back to 40+k.   The problem I'm sure they just noticed is they will have to increase the points you get with DP and subscriptions.   And that's just one obstacle they ran into.

I think we should take all the points and revalue them based on the capacity of the market compared to the inverse of the average stock gains and inflation rate then shove them up your butt.

Luckily we have you, a level 30, with 167 Xanax taken and... checks notes nothing worth mentioning, to help us understand how an economy should be working.

Points are only the tip of the iceberg. No pun intended. Crimes and market items are a strange thing to take part of along with rw rewards being oddly paid out

Points used to be like $10k a pop, I remember chatting with someone who planned on buying a whole load before they jumped to $25k a pop, but their IRL spouse told them that they were an idiot so they didn't. You are arguing about a ~$5k variation. We have seen much worse in the past, I even remember in the old forums where Chedburn announced that he bought an extra HDD for the server. I honestly believe that he ran Torn off his personal computer back then, I mean an extra HDD was enough for a proper announcement.

No, points dropping by ~10% is not a major issue. Nor is a gain of ~10% a major issue. Temporary fluctuations makes no impact at all. Hell, we are just starting to balance out serious issues this game had 15+ years ago, and you are worried about grains of sand. No, inflation was an issue way back then, it is less of an issue now.

I appreciate your insite on years past. My question is that has there every been a time that money has been so trying to generate? The times of crimes 1.0 seemed to be plenty more prosperous. Could this have made it easier to navigate inflation in the past?

Here's the stick up my ass that keeps me from giving two shits about any of this.

Real life economies are dynamic and always in flux. The more controls you put on it, the more volatile it gets. That is so true that even a completely fictional economy like Torn cannot be manipulated in the way most people think it should. A real-life economist is employed to manage it and the general consensus is that he does a shitty job even though no one could probably do it better. As great as an idea may sound, the butterfly effect it causes may create all kinds of unintended consequences. Non-intervention is the best play in real life and as tempting as it is to go against that in Torn, it's still the best policy. The only interventions which happen are ultimately what's best for the business end of Torn to keep ched's lights on. Everything else is just part of the dynamic of participating in any economy, whether real or pretend. That's why, in the end, just play the f**king game or log out. Armchair economizing doesn't get anybody anywhere.

TLDR - Shut up and play or logout.

Uh yeah, when flying didn’t exist. I was a newb/loner so idk how other people made money back then, but since I left 16 years ago and came back this year, the economy has boomed like whoa.

Also level 15s can fly and generate a decent amount of income even now. You had to have A LOT of crime experience to be able to do the profitable Crimes 1.0 crimes successfully.

Yes. Donator packs used to be a couple of million, and pretty much anything worth dozens of billions now was worth a couple hundred mil. The economy has exploded in 16 years.
