This has likely been discussed but I didn't find anything in a search...

Has there been an explanation why we don't get anything for a defend in a war?

I think it's worth a discussion, about updating how defends work during a war.

I'm not going into a long rant, if someone can link me to where it's already been discussed.

Thanks

Great suggestion brother, I think this should be instantly implemented(definitely not because RG will get a trillion defends every war)

As others have said, there is an opportunity cost to the opponent for a loss.

The main reason though is that it just encourages farming even more than already exists.

Would be kind of fun if the attacker who lost the fight also lost score, but it makes things complicated with how direct external influence is allowed in wars.

Mr_Charlie [452500]

Maybe you can explain the farming aspect? You mean like having a termed war to farm billions in caches?

I don't see how if you gave me some faction respect credit, that would hurt anything?

Level100Coochie [2983838]

not sure if this is what Bogie means or not, but giving war score or respect for defends is a buff to the archetype of the cache farm system (one or two high stats on a roster filled with greenleafs). For those top stats players, currently the only limiting factor for them in wars is usually E and their own activity. Score for defends mitigates those limits and they could even potentially get enough score for participation bonuses without a single outgoing attack from their side (or logging in all weekend). That could become a pretty degenerate playstyle...

Also, fwiw the side with the highest stat players already have a pretty oppressive advantage in RW, idk why we'd want to see underdog strategies nerfed in the current meta when upsets are pretty few and far between.

That would be funny, when you are the defender. But imagine you get a war where you are completely out stat’d and have to group attack several of their members, this would cause group attacks to be kinda counter productive, you would likely lose more than gain by the time you actually take them down.

Group attack and still lose, even!  😩

That said, I initially thought, "yeah, seems reasonable to balance things a bit more" buuut, I quickly realised some of what others have mentioned; we've been in a few ranked wars now, we've been massively out-stated in at least half of those wars and that was miserable enough, without their offline players gaining points with OUR energy and efforts.  No thankie please!  👎🏻

dunmugmeh [538353]

I think having multiple players attacking you and some/all of them losing in a ranked war is a reward in itself. That means they cant use that energy elsewhere to beat the players they can actually  beat in your faction.

Why not just give the team with most stats the win. No need of fighting.

There is a few factions that fight way over their stat league. If you would remove score by grouping and some of your members do lose, then just give the ones that has higher stats the win, before the fight.

If a team used 5 people to win vs one of the other. That is 125e used.

Mr_Charlie [452500]

In a battle between 2 opponents, one wins and one loses ( except draws)

It shouldn't matter who starts the fight.... if you win, you earn respect, if you lose,  you don't. Simple enough.
