Guns are THE leading cause of death for children under 7. More than car accidents, more than suffocation, more than cancer.

My question is why we don’t see this in other places. Yemen has a per capita firearm ownership rate over 50%, and they don’t have school shootings. I’ve only heard of a few across Europe and Mexico in the past 10 years. What is it about American society that makes it happen? Easy access to firearms may play a part, but there must be more to it, as we see that in other countries where shootings don’t happen. What is so special about the United States?

A mix of lax gun control plus the meme (traditional not modern concept) of a shooting. 

Basically school shootings are so embedded in US culture at this point if a kid is on the verge they will lean towards a mass shooting because they have seen it everywhere. 

Add to to being able to get a gun easy as f**k and you have a recipe for what you have now.

Six teenagers have been convicted in France for their roles in the 2020 beheading of teacher Samuel Paty.

Mr Paty was killed outside his school in Paris after showing cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad during a class on freedom of expression.

A teenage girl was found to have lied about what happened in class, while five others were guilty of identifying Mr Paty to his attacker.

The sentences from 14 months to two years are all suspended or commuted.

Mr Paty's name was disclosed on social media after caricatures published by the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo were shown during a class he taught.

The teenage girl told her parents that Mr Paty had asked Muslim pupils to leave the room before showing the caricatures.

But she had in fact been absent from the class in question. The court found her guilty of having made false accusation charges and slanderous comments.

Five defendants, aged 14 and 15 at the time, were found guilty of staking out the teacher.

They were convicted of involvement in a group preparing aggravated violence.

Mr Paty's killer, Abdoullakh Anzorov, an 18-year-old Chechen refugee, was shot dead by police at the scene of the murder.

A second trial will open next year for eight adults also accused of complicity in the murder. These include Brahim Chnina, the father of the 13-year-old girl on trial.

Depictions of the Prophet Muhammad are widely regarded as taboo in Islam, and are considered highly offensive by Muslims.

The issue is particularly sensitive in France because of Charlie Hebdo's decision to publish cartoons of the Prophet.

Twelve people were killed by Islamist extremists at the magazine's offices in 2015 after the images were published.

People are killed all the time by bladed weapons, bombs, and other non-gun items. You're not actually fixing anything by removing guns.  Do you honestly think no one does any illegal drugs, or gets guns from illegal sources, or decides no to commit a crime just because they have to slightly alter their methods?

Taking away guns could hurt women and children honestly. Just about every man who wants guns taken away especially because they are ignorant about them, and couldn't hunt if needed to use that tool to feed their family or protect it from domestic terrorists or a tyrannical government. That may be and has been times in the past the only way for a woman to defend herself and her children, and even in some cases for the child to defend the family aswell. It's a cultural problem in America, not a gun problem. You are a moron if you don't realize that. The culture in America needs changed. People need better education with guns, and half of those kids who decided to be an infamous school shooter like all the other kids posted and plastered all over the news and social media platforms really needed their A**es spanked along time ago.
