You're not getting it back bro, its a hang up but you'll progress fine without. The fact it took you 8 months to even ask reinforces the fact you're not getting it back. I wouldn't consider me or my factions leadership to be scummy, but we talked about this situation the other day and unless its an obscene amount of money, we aren't willing to watch over someones money they hasn't been in the faction for months.  

Why did you not ask your leader (or anyone in your faction) what the money balance adds were at the time and to send it to you? 

I think trying to claim something that you abandoned 8 months ago is a bit of a stretch.

Unfortunately, if you left the faction without asking for the money, then that could happen. Especially if you join another faction.

However, for such a large amount of money they should have reached out to you.

But as soon as you leave an join another faction then it seems you've made your intentions clear. They're not to know what you're not aware of your balance 

You just paid for your first real education course for Torn. Expensive lesson: Don't trust anyone with more money than you're willing to say goodbye to. 

It does suck that the person isn't willing to just give you back the money you earned, but that's how the game works. Scamming is allowed. 

Best thing you can do is name and shame them, and take it on the chin with good attitude. I wouldn't complain much more than that, especially in GD.

It says "donate" when you put it in tho? So by default it's not yours anymore. 

Some factions allow storing cash tho, but if not stated they can keep it.

He didn't put any money in himself, the faction leader was putting his RW payments in his balance. Pretty standard practice from what I've seen. 

It is rightfully his money, regardless.
