Wasnt this in reference to Nace having a friend log in to take leadership during a raid and log off. Not the same thing.

Dsla's example would be closer to what I was saying, but if theyre playing together thats one thing. There is a difference between "new/inactive player only logs in to fly and send profits to friend" vs "friend who plays with me and helps with me lots of different things."

Maybe you want some specific black and white rule that clarifies but there isn't.

The rule of thumb is they should have their own goals atleast, thats purely my opinion. If you wanna have your friends log on and send you all their profits, go ahead. Goodluck.

If someone is only playing for someone else, feeding another person etc without playing their own game, then yes...it's gonna be treated as multiple accounts. Doesn't matter if they are in the same flat or on another continent.

fuck [2669774]

so what happens if someone decides to just turn into a feeder account? do both accounts get fedded? should i be sending my enemies all my stuff instead of putting bounties on them?

You can see it in the FAQ section of this thread.

I want a family member to join the game but I don’t want to be fedded for using the same IP

Two people in the same house can play without any problems, even using the same computer or device. You can help each other out and play together as long as one account doesn't exist just to feed the other. If you are the same person it is easy to tell and will result in the multiple account being deleted and the main account put in federal jail.

If you just started feeding then you still played your own game before, it seems. So just sending all your stuff to your "enemies" won't do anything but giving them a good day, you can try.

You are not getting a pure feeder account over night.

There's a few posts across multiple threads over the years when the topic comes up. This was the most clear post I could find.

"flag as a multi" is the wording here.

But these conversations are all normally based around the fact this behaviour is overlapping with same household/IP play or some "family member" playing pretext. It's also normally based on if the account was originally set up with this purpose as well.

Nothing in any thread I can find makes it relate to any situation that falls outside of those contexts, across multiple posts and threads involving bogie in them.

Prior to Jairyll's post just now, as far as I can find, there's no prior post detailing it being applied in other situations, such as someone losing interest in the game and only continuing to log in to assist friends with actions or sending them assets.

Edit: Never mind, it seems Jairyll just clarified their post and it still doesn't apply to situations where accounts of people no longer interested in the game start assisting their friend/s.

Thats often what seems to happen with many alleged couples that end up fedded. Story tends to be one quit and other took over, if they werent multis the entire time. We as public never really know.

However Staff has stated time and time again, it doesnt matter if you are seperate people if they think you are "feeding" another account.

I am a bit late to all this drama.

First of all I hope Bogie is alright, he has now been 2d offline and I hope he just takes some time of from all that has happened recently, being online for 800d+ and now 2d offline speaks for itself.

Secondly - we need to remember as a community that this is a text based online game and people behind the screens we interact with daily have feelings. Just because its easy to be a asshole behind a computer does not mean one can get away from ones actions. Just like any offense behind or not behind a computer those choosing to go that path should face consequences.

The game is not a personal platform for people to overreact on others for their own irl personal issues, its not a dumpster for people to get mad at others for failures in their own life.

Thank you reading this / Vita

What DaveO is arguing, is that the wording on the rules posts is purely referencing:

One player creating more than one account.

More than one player using the same account.

I know that having other accounts existing as a feeder account (despite not being created/registered by you) are counted as multi behaviour, he was just asking when that is going to be explicitly stated in the rules which everyone sees.

Apnea [1532667]

The part that states one person needs to have multiple accounts. The discussion is that two people cannot be a multi, literally by virtue of the rule.

Being 'treated as multiple accounts' is a different statement entirely to 'you are a multi'. It appears you can be banned (if a forum I didn't know existed now constitutes the rules) for mainly feeding from one account to another while being two entirely different people though. I said above many times - proving you're not a multi in this situation is another matter entirely. I'm guessing this is why the feeder rule was adopted.

A thread has now been posted that states feeder accounts are not allowed, even if you are two entirely separate people. Being pedantic, this is an entirely different rule to what I was originally stating but f**k me sideways and I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong, the initial folks were almost correct. You're still not a multi if I understand this correctly but you'll be... treated like one if you solely feed another account regardless of if you are separate people?

Edited to add - Julie's post references two people in the same house not being feeders. It doesn't say anything about people in different countries being feeders? This is an interesting one and I'd love clarification. No I'm not asking for the general staff stance of "you can try it and see...". I'm asking a straight question, are feeder accounts banned as a general rule of Torn?

Quick Dave - send me some stuff so they don't ban you for always leeching off me. 😉

IndyCision [2597200]

They class it under the same rule because if those other player accounts exist purely to feed you, then your one account is getting that same unfair advantage that the multi rule exists to stop.

Yes, technically you are not a multi by the definition of having multiple accounts registered by and played by yourself, but you could argue that if you have feeder accounts which are doing what you want them to do and only exist to do that, then you are "controlling" multiple accounts even if not physically logging in as them to do so.

I hope if Oman and their partners really lead to the staff tools getting stronger, that they all get compensated by Ched for it.

Youre going to want to take a real close look at Seba_Nile’s login patterns over the last decade. He has a mysterious habit of logging in immediately after Larten_Crepsley logs out, talking like Larten, and doing things that help Larten. Once in a while he logs in out of sequence and talks and it’s like a whole different person…

The detection systems for account sharing are very poor.

Apnea [1532667]

Simps of Torn - beware!

This all just jiggles my "use it when it suits you" bone, but that bone is often jiggled in Torn, tbf. My understanding was that the stance of Torn made it clear - we will figure you out if you're a multi. If you're not, you won't be banned.

A forum FAQ thread stating that you can't solely feed an account if you share a home seems arbitrary at best if you're going to use that as a rule to fed accounts, particularly those who seem very likely to be in separate countries and you're sure, with all your usual checks, are not one person with multiple accounts.
