Judging by the fact you getting declined and you getting mugged are almost 8 hours apart i highly doubt the 2 things are related - S1mplekill [2897746]

When you apply to a faction there is a "show stats" toggle. You are knowingly taking the risk of sharing your stats with people you don't know. Most people pre-arrange joining a faction, in part to mitigate this, but mostly cos blind applying to a HoF faction is... presumptuous?
To those saying it is not related; It likely is. The dude was prob clicking around his faction, seen a denied application, saw he could beat their stats, and mugged them. Not exactly targeted, but not unrelated.
To be fair, it's said to message Z_Junior or Karalynn on their profile for years. Since I'm guessing you didn't bother to message them, that's the reason why. Whining in the forums doesn't help your case either.
