I'm close to becoming a Reviver. If I promote to Brain Surgeon, can I still get the Affronted merit, or do I have to promote after I get the merit?

You can get it later. I got it after I had reached max promotion in all of them.
From what I read, affronting locks you out of a city job for 3 days, and you have to do it to all of them in the same 24 hour period to get the merit.
You can get the merit first, but u have to wait out for days, before u can access the job back, and you still can promote yourself
Phew! I thought I had perma locked myself out of becoming a medic!
