What do you mean by progression? Once you're 15 and able to sustain 3 xannies/day, comp slot is really up to personal preference - tv/oil/LM gives decent salaries, AN gives and buffs eDVDs if you're below 800k/stat, clothing if you're an active trader, LS is okay if you're flying a bunch (rip points), grocery is aight for cans / income per low WS, candle/farm/game shop for e (each with their own pros and cons), pub for crimes, strip clubs/FC/music/restaurant for BS growth ....
There's no real right answer, even shit comps like amusment or toy can be useful as the directors tend to sell cheaper trains, really depends what you're looking for
Sad you added Toy shops in the $#it company list. I run a toy shop and is very useful for plushie runners.
:P objectively LS and flower are better for fliers, LS cuz free BCT (even with tax you'll get more out of it) and flower cuz -addiction is better than 50 happy per JP spend (and they both give their respective abroad shits as a JP special)

The main thing you want is trains. Lots of companies give them out for free (on rotation to all employees).
Others charge for trains (usually one or 2 people pay for all the trains), so it's important to find how the director does them.
The higher the stars of the company, the more daily work stats you will gain.
