I’m fairly certain Bogie has only been CM 5-6 years. This must have been a true Dan of Bogie the Torn Citizen.

I assume staff don't monitor mails until someone puts a report in so if nobody reported him for anything amiss for 41k mails then that's why he'd get away with being that way so long?

That's assuming he was that way all along. Which, to be fair, people don't suddenly just become creeps so he probably was.

I feel like the words we use and levels of discomfort felt make it tough to quantify harassment.  

Just reading the responses from your post to the BrotherPigeon’s responding to Oman’s shows how nuanced it is.  

You said he hit on you and numerous other females. In my mind hitting on means to strike up a conversation to see where it goes.  That’s a fairly neutral action.  

While being hit on can be uncomfortable and unwanted, if it’s just the friendly inquiry where when rebuffed he goes away, then there shouldn’t be harm done.  I get the feeling that is not your case.  So perhaps hit on isn’t the right term. Maybe accosted is the better option. 

Regardless of what we term the initial contact, it’s the response and the response to the response that really tells something. There is a simple truth that a lot of people have such a tough time understanding.  “No!” is a complete sentence. 

When rebuffs are ignored, taken as a challenge, or worse, taken offense to, there’s going to be problems. A person shoots their shot and if it doesn’t hit, it’s a miss. The decent person accepts the miss. The only proper response when denied is to politely excuse oneself. Nobody is entitled to a person’s time or attention in the context of making acquaintances or friends. It took me thirty or more years to learn that being polite should go out the window once a rebuff has been ignored.  

Maybe I’m showing my gender bias but I feel like most women will have had this sort of encounter. A guy comes up and says his line what ever it is and you politely rebuff and then their response is a complete mystifying load of bullshit: “I was just being friendly, you don’t have to be rude to me!” Or “Damn Girl, I was being nice to you! Why’d you have to be such a bitch?” Or “Hey I just paid you a compliment by coming over here to talk to you! You are not even hot!” Or maybe if you’re really lucky, you get, “You’re ugly and you should be begging to suck my dick just because I’m giving you the time of day!”  (I paid $8 to get into a club to dance with a bunch of friends because I wasn’t old enough to drink and had a man at least 15 years older than me tell me this when I told him to get away from me when he grabbed my hips and tried to grind his junk against my ass!)

Things are changing but often times females are raised to not make a scene, be polite and reserved.  I was with at least four other girls and we all just stood there stunned. We weren’t taught how to handle a situation like that. I wasn’t afraid when it happened I felt gross!  Disgusted… Violated… it just felt oily like this disgusting perve thought I deserved that!  Why any guy would feel like making a woman feel that way towards him makes sense is beyond me. We were there with guys though so my friend Manny walks up and he’s over six feet, 250 pounds and probably could have broken the dude in half. I don’t recall what happened. If we all just went to our table, if we moved spots, I don’t recall what that dude looked like other than thinking he was old and gross. I do recall how I felt and his words. Now I tell my nieces and their friends to be loud and offensive and get bouncers involved.  Polite and reserved are behaviors that work for normal people; not predators. 

People aren’t entitled to treat others as sexually available to them just for existing. So approaching a complete stranger for the first time and commenting on their body, looks, or appearance in a sexual way is not normal or okay, ever. Neither is touching them or even invading their space. That’s not hitting on someone. That’s acting aggressive towards them and creepy.

There’s a vast difference between a natural progression of banter and out of the blue sexual comments.  

Ugh! This is probably way too rambly but sometimes I think people should just be told these things. They ought to know them but we know they don’t because we wouldn’t have creeps creeping on us if they knew.
