correct me if I am wrong but these are my observations and predictions:

So with the introduction of the new 1%-5% tax on item market sales we can see that xanax prices are still pretty stable. At any given time you can go to the item market and get some for between 810k-830k depending on market fluctuation however there is a way to garentee yourself cheaper xanax at the moment and that is with drug packs.

Where before drug packs followed closely with the price of xanax at around 5x the price for an average of 5 xanax per drug pack opened that was purchased. This was almost treated as gambling by some but for others there was a certainty of profit in the long run, where people would buy 100s of packs open them for an average of 500 xanax and then resell these xanax for a profit if the price of drug packs had dipped below the 5x mark.

The tax changes things for end users.

No longer will there be a pulling force up on the price of packs due to resellers/traders/gamblers as there will be less and less profit to be made. Now that reselling this xanax would require higher margins than previously, it is now advantageous for end users of xanax to directly buy their xanax in the form of drug packs rather than individually from the item market.

As the % of tax increases the value of xanax/drug packs will get even further apart. This will also be the same for end users of energy drinks & alcohol/ 6-packs.

You mean that a small player who is struggling to get Xanax to consume should by your logic now buy drugs packs to get it only Vicodin?

I feel that out of 10 packs of drugs I am lucky to have only 1 that contains Xanax. It's a big loss.

Not sure this is 100% accurate as it was only 65m a few days back. It is allegedly 50/50 pull. If you're under it, just keep gambling ;)

Out of 678 packs opened 378 packs have been Xanax giving me a 51.18% chance I received Xanax. I have the screenshot just don't know how to convert to post here lol

The price of drug packs/Xan/Vico should converge, in the long term, to the expected value of drug packs as follows:

EV(drug pack) = P(Xan)*10*cost(Xan) + P(Vico)*10*cost(Vico)

If the player is reselling the Xan and Vico from opening the drug packs, multiply the formula by (1-tax rate).

Due to market inefficiencies, ie players usually set the price of drug packs they want to sell once and not constantly adjusting their price based on market prices of Xan and Vico, the price of drug packs could be higher or lower than the EV(drug packs).  However, in the long term, the price of drug packs should stabilize to the the EV(drug pack).
