Sure I'm not the first one to say/ask this but isn't ranked war just going to get less and less profitable? Currently it makes great money because caches are valuable but isnt it just simple supply and demand. Eventually enough caches would have been opened that so many ranked weapons will be in circulation that those will drop in price no? If the ranked weapon market starts going down, caches would follow would they not? Caches are the main profit from war (obviously) the points are good too but most factions are not getting large amounts of those. Please forgive me if this is a dumb post, just seems like a flaw with the current system :)

Yes caches will lose value over time (as will all advanced gear), they've been on the decline since they were introduced 3 years ago lol

Eventually market will do market things where facs will stop rwing as its not profitable enough to sustain, decreasing supply influx and stabilizing the price, obviously we're not there yet as cache farms still very much exist and there's a high terming rate in plat and esp diamond lol, but give it a couple years it'll find an equilibrium point, it's still early days (rw has only been a thing for 3 years) and eventually I suspect that once prices reach a certain point the meta will be for facs to completely phase out vanilla armas/dbks (or at least cut back significantly) and fill their armoury with noob yellow weaps, which will give them a new floor as noobs will always start new facs and people won't stay in a fac not offering rw gear to mess about with

Bear in mind that eventually weapons and armour are "phased out" as people that carry it will go inactive or be fedded (high value perma-fedded gear is sometimes reintroduced via AH events and whatnot), so that also decreases the potentially good pulls so people are more incentivized to open to "refresh" the market (also rip people who get someone in full eod+red rw weaps as a mission target :P)

Stuff like EOD and red armas/dbks will always be in demand as the "goal gear" for most people, so whenever those markets stabilize (people still overpay for them atm cuz there's only a few sets floating around) that will also provide a decent floor for cache prices (ofc taking into account the gambling nature, similar to how drug packs are anchored by xan prices just more complicated)

Also ched has a few times introduced new gear into the pools, which researchers and early adopters alike pine after, which can spike prices, possibly temporarily, possibly permanently if the gear is deemed worthy enough for cache hunters to hunt for (see: vanguard/sentinal :P), and who knows maybe ched has some elaborate plan to re-energize the market once it reaches a certain point :P

Makes sense, but i could see a day when war hits in lower elo earn as much (if not less) as slutting. At which point it would be better just to sell losses. Of course caches will always be valuable but at some point slutting is just more profitable. Makes me wish (when the system was introduced, not now of course) that there was some sort of RW weapon degrading system to keep the market alive, although this would probably reduce cache price to start 🤔

There will always be a point whereby prices decrease but I think we're years out from that seriously happening. There's just too many players in Torn, too few caches being opened, and too little of a drop rate -- and within that drop rate, quality items people want for their meta -- being acquired. The active player base with money working toward combat goals is simply too large to be satisfied by current rates, let alone the next 5 years without some significant change.

See that armour sets and weapons are still worth, at times, tens of billions of dollars. Vanguard, Sentinel, Marauder, and EOD are still coveted and too expensive for many.

I think it depends..if the faction wars for fun  or number 1 position then there isn't going to be much change .

But if you're talking about  cache farms. Soon they will stop warring when the payment of members out weight the cache sells price the cache farms will stop.. they is going to be decline eventually and the market will stabilize ..this cycle with continue with something else who knows?

Maybe I'm wrong ..

Razers have sold a total of 2 caches from all our wars. In 4 different factions.

We are the model of, "just doing it for fun"

We throw all the crap in Razer main for the noobs and the war team gets all the good stuff.

Before all of you tell me I'm doing it wrong, don't bother.

There are at least 20 players in torn who will war just for fun.

It would be ok, but in low elo wars its gets rough because it takes ALL of your time. I have to close down trades during my wars because im either being perma hosped by enemy factions or travelling and taking blood bags so i dont bleed points. Its still very enjoyable, but i just see a day, even within the next year where the profits would be cut so much that nobody would want to war (myself included).  Its also very crucial to the factions growth, which would be near stunted without war

narO [2312928]

The profits are already bad, people think they're doing good with 2 or 3m per hit but don't factor in all the e waste that comes with it, running it down to like 1m/25e, it's been grinded down so far that it's only really worth doing for new players or term wars

Even if you argue that you like doing it for fun, and tbf, when it's fun it is fun, you have to wade through a sea of shit deal making factions to find that golden match up, people investing billions in their stats and gear so they can get that once every 3 months fun war

Padokill [93922]

I mean a lot of factions used to chain just to get more faction perks and progress towards amongst others attacking merits and levels.

If we go further back to the first years of torn there was a faction ranking system that was basically one long list of factions and you could challenge any faction less than 50 ranks above you.

Players did that for fun and bragging rights without any monetary incentives.

RW rewards have made torn players more greedy instead of helping out their chosen factions growth and in the progress their own.

TBF even before RW'S there was more and more selling and buying of faction shells instead of the feeling of achievement from building your own high respect faction.

As we learned more about how torn worked we could see low respect factions without decent perks severely hamper your progress and in the case of low toleration perks will cost you many extra billions of TCD later on.
