When I first started playing the game, Jail was a big part of the game. You'd be stuck in jail for a couple hours, sometimes you wouldn't get busted at all.

Now there's books which help with Jail time that ate mostly redundant. Including items like the Lawyer card.

There is also a mission which requires you to use an item in Jail.

With the huge amount of busters sitting on the Jail page it seems like busting is too easy.

Perhaps it could work similar to reviving where the bust chance decreases with successive busts. This could go against the prisoner or the buster. It seems logical that it would be more difficult for the same buster to successively bust people from Jail. They would likely have "heat" on them, perhaps similar to notoriety in shoplifting.

Apologies if this has sounded a lot like a suggestion. My goal is to open the discussion on busting.

It seems like you don't really know how busting works. Try busting 12 people in an hour or so and come back to post your results.

Busting does have a similar mechanic to reviving in terms of success, but it is counted towards the buster. You essentially have a limited number of people you can bust in a day, with the fail rate "cooling down" over time. The reason why so many people get busted, is because there are just that many people playing and going for bust merits. Meanwhile, jail chance is somewhat the same, or even lower.

Depends on Faction perks too.

Having said that, I view jail a few times a day, been a lot of "there are no people in jail at this time" when I've checked for the past week or so.

EDIT: when u say: "Perhaps it could work similar to reviving where the bust chance decreases with successive busts."

That's always been the case.

Perhaps it could work similar to reviving where the bust chance decreases with successive busts.

This already exists for the buster and works as intended.

Why are there so few people in jail? Because they don't even get to be jailed.

C2.0 is now at crime #12, with 30 crimes planned, thats less than half. The general trend of the crimes - later crime, more intense crime. The crimes that would jail for a long time simply don't exist yet.

Then you look at the last 3 crimes and realize - they have a 0% jail chance. No wonder nobody goes to jail when the currently accessible crimes that pay the most(*) are jail-free.

That will fix itself with more crimes that actually jail, like #13 (Some newspaper article confirmed jailings)

You've only busted 3 ppl (with a success rate of 23%) in your entire torn life. Like what Omanpx said above, you might wanna try busting a little more first before concluding that it's too easy.

If anything, I think most people would agree that the busting merits are some of the toughest to get, with only 500 people in all of torn achieving the 10k one. Afaik, most people can only bust 5-8 times a day due to the cool down.

The fact that jail pages are emptier than usual now is more likely due to the state of crime 2.0 at this point. I believe many of the current higher-nerve crimes like scamming and cracking don't have jails for their crit failures?

Broxogar [2728258]

Also just to be clear, your suggestion/solution is literally just for busting to have the exact mechanics it already has?

If anything it's harder than reviving...

Scuba [512975]

I did 1,000 revives in a month's time. All it cost was a ton of energy.

I'm lucky if I do 1,000 busts over 3-6 months. There's a cap, as others say. You learn to min-max it as best as possible but it doesn't eliminate it.

I agree that being in jail -- and in hosp -- has become meaningless contrast to years before. That's the price of merit hunting, skill (crime experience or revive) building, and just generally having a hyperactive game community. Things that put us in the hospital/jail have become energy/nerve intensive, cost E/CE so players tend to limit going there to begin with.

Busting is a skill you can build up.

The more people you bust the easier it is to bust in the future.

If you level up it is easier to bust, the higher your level the easier it is to bust.

There are also merits associated with busting and the 10k one does take a 'while' to earn.

With the number of very active players in the game who are seeking the busting merits playing actively they will be busy levelling up and looking at the jail page quite often hence sometimes the jail can be 'empty'

This game is also more active than it used to be many active players some of them looking for busting merits.

There is a cooldown on busting cant over do it or busting will fail.

Also something else, its been a while since the last crime release, many active players have got all crime skills up to 100. Many of those players including me will be busting more people now.

Failing higher level OCs (2.0) can land you 35+ hours of jail time, without LBC, a LVL100 will need to wait a while for others to be busted out.

Mickadin [2745651]

It’s not that busting is too easy but that going to jail is not common enough. Too many busters, not enough prisoners. So you have empty prisons and worthless LBCs
