Forums Admin Abuse Causing Confusion

  I think at this point, it is fair to say that we don't know what is permissible and not permissible to say on the forums. You get punished for things that are not even against the rules, but when you report someone for the same exact thing or worse, you get a response back that no rules have been broken. If these people were looked at as politicians running a country, we have an apartheid system in Torn City. I know these people don't like the word apartheid, but if they don't want to hear the word being used to describe them, they should not commit the acts that the word is defined as.

  As a Palestinian, I have to be very careful what I say because these clowns look for any reason to turn something into something bigger than it is or misinterpret it. I even got banned from the forums for 3 days just for calling someone out on something he literally did. Apparently me calling him out for something he literally did was "extreme flaming". I report someone for saying "You are a nazi", "You are a terrorist", or "You are a terrorist sympathizer/supporter" and its ok even though that is extreme flaming and defamation of character.  Them trying to convince people that I or others are terrorist sympathizers or terrorists seems worse than calling someone out for his genocidal rhetoric, don't you think? I got banned for telling someone who spews genocidal rhetoric that he supports and justifies genocide. They literally try defaming our character and use extremely inflammatory language all the time.

  All I want is consistency so that I know what I can and cannot say without relying on precedents that you will just flip flop on anyway. Apparently just reading your rules is not enough. I truly believe I should have no strikes on my account right now. You guys are being unfair and abusing your positions. Its either you let us have fair free speech and only target the crazy shit like incitement of violence, violent threats, things against the law, and such, or you be just as strict on everyone without discrimination. This double standards bullshit needs to end.

Why engage in political discussions at all in a game?  I know there's a politics forum but when was the last time a political discussion resulted in someone changing their minds about their original POV or believes?  Why not just enjoy the game and leave the RL stuff at the door?

Yeah, the rules don't mean jackshit to moderation. Bogie himself upgraded my verbal warning to a full blown system warning because he didn't like how I felt about the initial warning. Then on a second occasion, I got a forum ban for discrimination despite not saying anything about any group or individual. I stopped using P&L entirely and I use the forums in general less and less because of this reddit-tier bullshit moderation. The rules only exist so mods don't have to admit they just do whatever they want to whoever they want.

Then why create a sub-forum for political discussion? Just shut it down if you are not willing to moderate it in good faith.

If I recall correctly, P&L was created because politics weeaboos couldn’t keep their political pissing matches out of GD

If you or OP feel it's not moderated in good faith, GD is hardly the place to appeal admins' decisions.  

it's important to remember that partition in any forum, or this game for that matter, is strictly voluntary.  Just because it's there doesn't mean you must participate.  Everyone has the freedom to choose how to spend their time.  This is a game after all, not X, and games are supposed to be fun.  

I do not enter the political side of the forums also am not blinded to what you mean about the rules, and share your sentiment for more consistency, but as some may say, be careful what you wish for especially when it comes to asking for rule changes and enforcement.  (Not discrediting the hard work of staff)

Well there is a legal distinction depending on what is said. Supporting or glorifying a terrorist organisation is not just against Torn's rules, but UK law which applies to Torn.

However, if you are unhappy, I would strongly suggest contacting a higher ranked member of staff or talk to bogie/PrincessJulie. Having spoken to them both on many occasions, they might not agree with what you say, but they will hear you out and give you a fair shot at least. Generally though, I believe your odds are always better in private discussion with that than the forums.

Edit: To clarify, I have not read the posts you refer to, I am making a general comment on the topic as I don't wish to delve into the rights or wrongs of anything political on Torn if I can avoid it - it's just not why I am here.

All humans are biased and no single staff member can be completely fair. There will always be areas where emotion overrules logic. Hence why having a sampling of staff from different regions, perspectives, ages, and backgrounds facilitates as close to a neutral body as possible.

That system only works in census and not in a one on one basis.

And besides this most of us are scattered worldwide so do I really care about what the British parliament is up to today? Not really, I'm barely interested in my own country's politics because it's all a sh_tshow. So why do we even have this?
