So I have an old laptop (2006) an Xbox one.
So i think I'm due a gaming upgrade.
I mostly play 1st person shooters and zombie games.
So what would you buy.
I'm not particularly wedded to the laptop for playing away from home.
So any thoughts from you gamers out there
if you're fine with the old laptop (don't see yourself doing more strenuous tasks on it, it's still fast somehow, etc.) I say just get a new xbox for gaming especially since it would be a cheaper upgrade, GamePass has a great selection of games. Otherwise seems you're overdue for a computer upgrade anyway and would go for a PC vs laptop if you're not using it for portability.
Gaming PC is the best choice but also the highest upfront cost for sure.
You can still use Game Pass on PC, but again, XBOX is cheaper to purchase.
Also for first person shooters, mouse and keyboard is way nicer than a controller anyway.
I would stay away from a gaming laptop. They are generally bulky, and offer little in the ways of future upgrades.
I built my PC back in 2019 for around $1,400 CAD and outside minimal upgrades (like adding an SSD), have left it untouched and it runs the vast majority of games just fine.
You can go to something like PCPartPicker to look at pre-designed builds, or build your own for a starter and see if it's worth the juice for you.
There are also a few reputable custom PC builders out there as well but I have less knowledge on that, especially since it depends where you live as well.
