Top 20 busting

So I (finally!) got into the busting top 20. At the ripe age of 3999 days. Actually a couple of hours before I turned 4000, so blink and you've missed it!

The next youngest in the top 20 is 5200 days old, and the only youngest in the top 20 is CerealKillaKyle, #38 at 3959 days.

Obviously it's not the first time someone under 4K days old or less enters the top 20: that was the case for at least the first 4K days of Torn, more than half of its total life. But since busting is severely time gated, I believe this will the last time this ever happens. Yay!

Although...

I ran the numbers a couple of days ago, and here are the top bust rates per day, out of the top 200 busters in Torn:

So first, I think we can all appreciate how insane David and Boxcar182 numbers are. Over 10 busts a day for over 20 years. INSANE! (I-Am-biker-babe is not bad either, lol).

But also, I will have to keep an eye on the aptly named BreakingChad for the next 8 years or so. At this rate he has a fair shot at getting into the top 20 "early", depending on him keeping his rate at this level (it looks like he's started slowing down a bit recently) and what people ahead of him do. Don't forget that the goal posts are moving, so it will be harder for him than it was for me, as the number of busts required to get into the top 20 keeps going up. In any case his rate is super impressive, considering you can't start busting right away (and yes, it looks like he has already used the busting book).

BTW, the only category that's even more time gated seems to be Awards: youngest in top 20 is anghel at 4690 days, you probably need all 10 yearly merits to get there. All other HoF categories have quasi-noobs in the top 20.

A couple of final notes: in order to get to the top 20 at the 4000 day mark, I needed to keep an average of 12 busts a day for the last month or so and 13 for the last week. This involved so many reloading of the jail page that I triggered the bot hunter. I also have to thank the meta-busters, people who busted me out of jail repeatedly, starting with Adobi, who did it 46 times and Scary, 17 times.

TL;DR: I wasn't the first one under 4K days in the top 20 in busting, but I will likely be the last one. Something to be mildly proud of!

edit: fixed the last column of both tables to actually show the number of busts. Also, as mentioned in the comments, undo also has a chance to get to the top 20 before turning 4K.

That’s really impressive — especially the rate of 12+ busts per day over the last month!!

And clearly you lead your +/- 3-year cohort in busts. That means everyone ahead of you had at least a three-year head start. You’ve left most of those who started with you back in your dust. That’s a tremendous amount of dedication and determination on your part.

Indeed that's a lot of clicks to reload the jail page! I wonder if the devs could pull out that type of stats, "number of hits to the jail page:  443,678" that would be cool.

I also wonder if the jail page is the most accessed page in all of Torn.

So many questions...

Congratulations, welcome to the club! You’ve got some interesting stats there too, it would be interesting to see the rates in the last year or so, as there are a few who are inactive, or not busting frequently in the Top 20, but you don’t see that too much with the busts vs account age :)

It would be interesting to get numbers by year, but that's not available through the API. 

I could easily get is the last action for inactives, but that would not tell the whole story. For more detailed data, you would need to go through each profile, select the graph for busting, and get the data. It's in the page, you have to look for a div with aria-labell="A tabular representation of the data in the chart.". You could write a script to extract it. It would be a bit time consuming though!

It seems to me that the common pattern is that at some point people decide to start busting, and they bust a lot for a few (or a lot of) years, then often they slow down. 

BTW, I still remember seeing you whizz past me in the HoF, so clearly you've been busting a lot in the past few years. lawyers!

I do always click the new crimes though reducing my busting potential until i get them up to 100% skill

Have been busted twice by CerealKillaKyle and while I've not been busted by BreakingChad I have been busted by Giga_Chad twice which is almost the same, right?
